- Abstract:
- Demand to structural and industrial materials with unique properties lead to produce unorthodox combination of metals. One of the most useful combinations is composites of Aluminum-Steel and this composites is mostly used as a sheet. Due to differences in melting point of two metals, preferred method for welding of this two metals is Cold Roll Bonding. For enhance of mechanical properties of this two metals, preferred methods is Severe Plastic Deformation. By the way, in SPD methods, two method was established for sheets. Accumulative Roll Bonding and Constrained Groove Pressing but ARB method produce multi-layer composites so preferred method to produce bilayer sheets is CGP. In this study, Al and Steel sheets after surface treatment, was bonded by roll and heat treatment process was pursued after roll-bonding, and roll-bonded and annealed samples was subjected to CGP process, also CGP process was done up to 2 passes in further passes samples were failed. For optimization of mechanical properties, secondary heat treatment was done. Effect of various annealing time at various times before and after CGPed process at various CGPed passes on evolution of intermetallic compounds was investigated. Mechanical properties of this composites was heavily depended on quantity of intermetallic compounds. For anneal after roll-bonding, is the optimum temperature and time. In first CGPed pass, intermetallic compounds was broken and divided in the soft layer but a little of compounds stays at interface and in second pass, whole intermetallic compounds divided in the soft layer. In first pass, mechanical properties was enhanced and in second pass due to delamination, this properties was decreased. For produce the new intermetallic compound to enhance the mechanical properties secondary heat treatment was stablished and 450°C and 1h annealing temperature and time was the optimum. At this annealing condition, mechanical properties was enhanced
