  7. Abstract:
  8. Given that the mean of the cost of drilling operation related to the required martials and preparation of the drilling fluids, therefore, the design and construction drilling fluid which omit has to be a proper rheology is essential in drilling operations and oil industry. A desirable property of the drilling fluid is the minimum fluid loss volume which can be achieved by formation of a low permeability filter cake on the wellbore. Drilling fluid filtrating invasion into the formation can cause formation damage and reduction in the productivity of the well. In drilling fluids, a series of natural synthetic and polymers may be used as fluid (filtration) loss control additives. However, high coast, low heat and mechanical restrict application of these materials especially for high temperature drilling in deep fields. In this thesis, two different mesh sizes of pistachios shell powder, acorn shell powder and Nano graphene oxide are used to prepare a water based drilling fluid with a high temperature résistance and minimum fluid loss volume that can be used for drilling in deep oil and gas reservoirs. Different formulations are prepared and their different properties omit density, pH, rheological properties such as plastic viscosity, gel strength, yield point and fluid loss behavior and mud cake quality are investigated. The results show that locally eco-friendly additive such as pistachios shell powder and acorn shell powder, by creating a thin, high quality and low permeable filter cake improve fluid loss behavior and rheological properties of the water based drilling fluid. As the result of the fluid loss tests shows 36% reduction in HP-HT fluid loss behavior for the drilling fluid containing 9 lb/bbl pistachios shell powder (PSP-2) compared with the base mud which contains polyanionic cellulose (PAC-LV) as fluid loss additive. The successful using of locally additive proved that this waste raw and eco-friendly material can be replaced in drilling industry to reduce the cost of drilling fluid and establish many new job opportunities in Iran and the world
