  7. Abstract:
  8. Organic photodetectrors(OPD) are new generation of photodetectors that use of organic materials to convert optical signal to electrical current. Organic photodetectors in recent decade have witnessed significant improvements and many recent research allocated to this photodetectors. This OPD’s have important application so that the inorganic photodetectors have some problems in that application , for example: wide area imagination , biomedical sensors , flexible application and . . . .This work focus on the design and simulation of a panchromatic photodetector that use of new material and have high bandwidth and low dark current. One of application of this OPD is to use in optical communication systems. For this, at first step we start with simplest bilayer structure and simulate it and step by step by apply the blocking layer and completing the active layer we try to arrive to best results. But multilayer structure for OPD’s have a problem , that for many application is not usable , for this reason , we design and simulation other type of OPD’s called Bulk HeteroJunction(BHJ) and we comparison advantages and disadvantages of two type of structure and other reported OPD’s. During discussions we discuss about different figure-of-merit of OPD’s like IV diagram, quantum efficiency, band width and … . In this thesis we will see that improvement in dark current leads to decrease in band width and so for improvement of external quantum efficiency.
