  7. Abstract:
  8. Recently, due to the major need of the development of underground spaces in dense urban areas, excavating tunnels near to the earth surface is arising. Therefore, there is a possibility that the new tunnels drill and construct in the vicinity or along the available tunnels. Thus, the interaction mechanism of this tunnels on each other and on land subsidence should be taken into consideration. In this research using ABAQUS finite element analysis software the interactions of the cross road subway station of Bimeh-Mehrabad airport in the line 4 of the Tehran city subway lines which is excavated using multistage drilling method is investigated. This model includes Eastern, Western and a connection tunnel which are gathered in a so-called “Part A” cross road which is stabilized with concrete arch and piles. This research discuss the effect of excavation of each tunnel on the ground settlement and on other available tunnels. According to the modeling results, existence of precast concrete blocks has high importance in controlling the land subsidence. Besides, Simultaneous drilling of the connection tunnel and western tunnel creates more tension in the upper walls of the tunnels and greater movements in the side walls of the adjacent tunnel in comparison to the situation where one tunnel is drilled in adjacent to an existing tunnel
