  7. Abstract:
  8. Land sourced marine pollution, overexploitation of living marine resources, destruction of habitat and introduction of harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens to new environment had been identified as the four greatest threats to the world’s oceans. Since invasive species can not be cleaned or absorbed in the ocean so, their effects on the environment are irreversible. Red tide is one of the invasive spieces and is a colloquial term used to refer to one of a variety of natural phenomena known as algal bloom. This phenomenon occur in estuarine, marine, or fresh water and algae accumulate rapidly in the water column and resulting in coloration of the surface water, varying in colour normally being red, green, yellow or brown, in high concentration. Also red tide have widespread serious effects on issues such as public health fishing and even tourism industry. Persian Gulf despite rich reserves of oil and gas, military and strategic location, rich resources and important and valuable diverse aquatic habitats such as coral reefs, due to sewage and human, industrial and agricultural waste, oil exploration and extraction operations, permanent ships’ traffic and also shallow water, geographical and climate conditions and limited water exchange with the external environment, has been confronted with this phenomenon in recent years. The perpose of this study is to investigate causes of this phenomenon, determine hydrodynamics and biological equations related to it, and create a template for red tide modelling due to available data. In order to achieve these perposes, at the first the introduction of this phenomenon, causes and effects, and the controlling methods of it was discussed. Then, due to the importance of red tide forecasting for reducing damages, different types of red tide forecasting and modelling methods are discussed. Finally, according to findings, regarding to measurement data of red tide occurance in 2008-2009, analysis of natural and human factors range for its formation was took placed and the modelling template for predicting in Persian Gulf was prepared in MIKE 21. Also, the scenario of biological modelling was determined
