Abstract
Tack coat is a layer of asphaltic materials, which is used for binding the surface layer to the current asphalt layer. The appropriate interlayer bonding condition will help different layers form a monolithic structure to resist traffic. The lack of proper interlayer bonding result in slippage between pavement layers, decrease the capability for transferring the load to the underlying layers, rutting, crescent cracking and decreasing the life of the Overlay.
