  7. Abstract:
  8. In the present work, the dynamic charactristics of an oil lubricated journal bearing are identified by experimental modal test. First other similar articles were studied. Then according to requrements and specifications of the bearing, a test bed is designed and constracted by existing technologies to perform tests and to collect required data. The test bed consists of several parts, including rotary shaft, stator, oil supply pack, dynamic force shaker and various sensors, which are constructed and assembled with very precise tolerances. In order to identify the dynamic coefficients of the bearing, the test process was performed using dynamic and static forces and collecting required data. In other words by applying static and dynamic forces to the stator in two directions prependecular to each other and collecting force, acceleration and displacemet data in these two directions, all these data import to the simulation model as input and the values of the frequency response matrix coefficients and finally the 8 coefficients of the bearing stiffness and damping matrices were calculated and presented. The model used in the present study to simulate the dynamic behavior of the bearing is a model which formulates the dynamic behavior of the bearing using stiffness, damping and added mass properties of the lubrication oil. Finally the results showed with the change in the frequency of dynamic force, the values of the frequency response matrix coefficients change linearly in some cases and in the form of a second order curve in other cases. Also all 4 coefficients of the stiffness matrix and 2 direct coefficients of the damping matrix were identified and presented successfully. Unfortunetlly the 2 cross-coupled coefficients of the damping matrix were not identified due to the scattering of the obtaind data
