  7. Abstract:
  8. In this thesis, study of some kinds of dual band transmission lines and structures are investigated. Attention to 3 important kinds, CRLH, SCRLH and the equal phase line are introduced and the formulations of each one are derived and considered. Also the method of designing these lines are attached. These lines form a complete category that makes the ability of designing all kind of dual band line with arbitrary frequencies and result phases with arbitrary non-integer ratio less or more than 1. Also an important attention is paid for the designing these lines in the microstrip configuration. Various kinds of Dual band structures are proposed at the last part of the introducing each lines. Considering the methods of designing 3 dual band lines, 3 dual band Butler matrices are proposed for the millimeter wave frequencies of 28 GHz and 38.5 GHz. In fact, substituting the simple transmission lines of the conventional Butler matrix with dual band lines, causes the dual band operation of the new matrices. The SCRLH dual band Butler matrix is fabricated and measured successfully and the results of the simulation and measurement are added which show the dual band operation of the structure. Considering the results, in both bands, the proper phases and amplitudes of the waves which feeding the antennas have been achieved successfully. The bandwidth of the structure are from 27.5 to 29 GHz and from 37.5 to 40 GHz in first and second band respectively and the return loss is 27 and 20 dB. The average insertion loss for both bands is less than 10 dB
