Abstract
A virtual power plant is defined as a set of independent consumers or diverse generating units, flexible loads and storage systems in a specific geographic area. The primary purpose of a virtual power plant is thus to coordinate the production and consumption of its constituent parts with a view to maximizing their performance in energy markets.
