  7. Abstract:
  8. Photocatalytic degradation is one of the developing modern and effective methods for decontamination of hazardous pollutants of chemical industrial wastewater. In spite of great developments in this field of research and its various advantages, finding a process with high efficiency and optimization of the operating parameters are still required to be investigated. In this study, the photocatalytic degradation of 2-Nitrophenol under natural sunlight irradiation using industrial photocatalysts such as TiO2 (Hombikat), ZnO, WO3 and TiO2 (P25) was investigated. The photocatalysts were characterized by the XRD, BET, SEM and DRS tests and the effects of significant operating parameters (the photocatalyst loading, initial concentration of the pollutant, and pH of the solution) were analyzed. The experimental points were determined based on the Box Behnken method. For investigation of individual and interaction effects of key operating parameters, the analysis of variance and statistical analysis were used and the operating parameters were optimized. Consequently, the percentage reduction of 2-NP for TiO2 (P25), TiO2 (Hombikat), ZnO, WO3 were 93.62%, 87.5%, 92.94% and 21.28% , respectively, which showed that TiO2(P25) was the best industrial photocatalyst for degradation of 2-NP. On the other hand, ZnO was not stable in the acidic and basic harsh situation and can not use for degradation. According to the results, for each photocatalyst, there was an appropriate model and high values of R2 showed that all of the models were authentic. . In addition, the amount of pollutant had the negetive effect to yield of degradation
