  7. Abstract:
  8. The wellbore instability increases the cost of drilling operations due to problems such as pipe sticking and lost circulation, so it is important to find the optimal well path. In this research, building a one-dimensional geomechanical model is investigated, and then the wellbore stability during drilling in different layers is evaluated. The geomechanical model is constructed using available data (well log data, mud logging unit data, and drilling reports) in a study reservoir and the optimal well path is determined by the appropriate inclination and azimuth using the geomechanical properties of the field and the stress regime, taking into account the wellbore stability and shear failure criteria. Then, the mud window is constructed as a safe range of mud weight at different depths according to the optimal well path. Finally, the effect of temperature on wellbore stability is examined as an important factor, especially at high depths. For this purpose, heat transfer simulation is performed in inclined well, and temperature distribution is obtained at different points in and around the wellbore. According to the results, the increase in temperature due to mud circulation during drilling will limit the mud window
