  7. Abstract:
  8. Membranes are one of the best water and wastewater treatment methods that could successfully replace other less-effective conventional techniques such as adsorption, coagulation, etc. Moreover, relative to other techniques, the quality of the water produced by membrane separation is very high compared to others. One of the main drawbacks of membrane treatment is fouling of the surface and internal pores of the membranes restricting its widespread application in the industry. In this study, TiO2@MIL-88A (Fe) photocatalyst and polyacrylonitrile membrane were modified with this photocatalyst to remove humic acid under visible light irradiation inside the PMR photocatalytic reactor was investigated. The performance of these membranes and nanoparticles was evaluated by pollutant removal, pure water flux, membrane resistances, and characterization obtained from FESEM, AFM, DRS, PL, FTIR, XRD, BET, and contact angle and porosity measurements. The correctness of nanoparticle synthesis was confirmed by FT-IR and XRD tests. The bandgap of the nanoparticles was obtained by DRS test, 2.57 eV, which indicates that the photocatalyst is activated by visible light. Also, the electron-hole recombination rate formed at the photocatalyst level was improved, which the PL test proves to be true. The presence of photocatalysts in the membrane bulk was confirmed by FT-IR ATR characterization and the dispersion of nanoparticles in it by SEM test. The presence of photocatalysts in the membrane bulk caused a reduction of the membrane contact angle by 8 degrees in the most optimal state and increased the hydrophilicity of the modified membranes. In the optimal state, nanoparticles could remove 91% of humic acid at a slurry state under visible light. Also, the modified membranes with 6% by weight of photocatalytic nanoparticles (PAN-TM6%) had the best performance among the modified membranes with the synthesized photocatalyst. So that the amount of pure water flux compared to the unmodified membrane was increased (PAN-TM0%) 24%, and the amount of humic acid separation increased by 10% and reached 93.2%.The fouling of the modified membranes under visible light was so severely reduced that after 10 hours, the flux drop was 15%, which improved by 20% compared to the unmodified state. Also, in the optimal state, the amount of blocking resistance improved membrane pores under light irradiation is more than 99% improved compared to the simple state, and the intrinsic resistance of the membrane, fouling, and Cake resistance also decreased
