  7. Abstract:
  8. In this project, olive leaf extract has been investigated as a green corrosion inhibitor or in other words environmentally friendly for rebars embedded in concrete in the Persian Gulf Sea water simulator. Olive leaves were prepared by ultrasonic method at 50 ° C with the help of ethanol solvent. The water-ethanol solvent was 70:30 and the resulting extract was immediately applied to the concrete mix in specified doses. Portland cement type 2 according to ISIRI-389-96 standard has been used to prepare concrete. The resulting extract powder was added to the samples in four different doses: 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% by weight of cement to prove the inhibitory function as well as the cathodic or inhibitory anode, electrochemical polarization test was used which showed that the mechanism was mixed with more displacement in the anodic region and carbon acted as an adsorbent of the extract molecule. The efficiencies were obtained from this test for four different doses: 2%, 4 %, 6%, 8% were equal to the numbers obtained: 67%, 97%, -16%, and 90%. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy test has been used to investigate the performance and inhibition mechanism. The efficiencies obtained from this test for four different doses: 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% were equal to the numbers obtained: 74%, 92%, -17%, and 89%. Surface studies were performed using OM light microscopy, SEM and EDX scanning electron microscope. FTIR test was also used to evaluate the inhibitor-derived bonds on the samples compared to the control sample. Experiments with contact angles were performed to determine the inhibitor effect on surface hydrophobicity, which demonstrated the inhibitor ability used to separate the corrosive medium from the rebar surface
