  7. Abstract:
  8. The main purpose of this research is to select a suitable solution for regeneration of ion exchange resins of TR system of Bushehr nuclear power plant and also to compare and evaluate the possibility of using industrial cationic resin (Amberlite IR120) instead of nuclear grade cationic resin (Amberlite IRN97).First, different solutions for regeneration of cationic resins were investigated. For this purpose, three strong acids including hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and nitric acid (HNO3) were selected and each of these acids was tested in two different concentrations and two different linear velocities; Also, to evaluate the appropriate solution for anionic resin regeneration, two base solutions of potassium hydroxide (KOH) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) were selected As before, they were tested at two different concentrations and linear velocities on the system of fixed bed ion exchange column.Comparing and examining the possibility of replacing industrial grade cationic resin with nuclear grade cationic resin Experiments to compare the resistance of these two resins, including gamma ray emission, adsorption and desorption cycle and examination of resins by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) analysis and Also, the constituent elements of these two resins were compared using neutron activation analysis. The results of experiments show that hydrochloric acid is the best solution for regeneration of cationic resins; Because in addition to fast kinetics, it has a sharp elution curve and also does not produce sediment; Also sodium hydroxide is the best solution for regeneration of anionic resins according to price and properties; And the use of industrial cationic resin instead of nuclear cationic resin was found to be unobstructed according to the results obtained in the ion exchange columns of the TR purification system.
