  7. Abstract:
  8. This study investigated the effect of oxidized molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets on the anti-corrosion and rheological properties of epoxy resin. Raw MoS2 sheets were obtained as layered nanosheets with a thickness of 50 to 100 nm using acid washing, oxidation, and heat shock methods. The use of nanoparticle characterization tests such as XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, EDS, and TGA supports this claim. Then, in the next step, epoxy coatings containing different percentages (0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.8, and 1.5 wt%) of MoS2 nanosheets were prepared with polyamide hardener to investigate the effect of adding nanosheets and the optimal percentage. The best effect on the corrosion properties of the coating in a saline medium of 3.5% by weight NaCl should be determined. In this regard, 1.5 wt% ZIF-8@BTA and MoS2/ZIF-8@BTA coatings were prepared to investigate the effect of MoS2 nanosheets on passive-active coating coatings and evaluated in 3.5% NaCl salt medium. Corrosion resistance was determined by EIS, Polarization, and Salt spray tests; Also, using a rotational dynamic rheometer (RMS), the rheological properties of Novalac epoxy resin containing the mentioned nanoparticles, which were used to make the coatings, were subjected to strain, frequency sweep, temperature sweep, and dynamic flow tests. The results show that Novalac epoxy coating containing 0.8% by weight had the best inhibitory performance compared to other MoS2 barrier coatings. The results show that Novalac epoxy coating containing 0.8% weight had the best inhibitory performance compared to other MoS2 barrier coatings. Also, the presence of MoS2 nanosheets in the active layer favors its corrosion resistance. Finally, the results of rheological tests showed that adding MoS2 nanosheets to Novalac epoxy resin would significantly reduce the resin's viscosity, which would vary depending on the weight percent composition of the nanosheets
