  7. Abstract:
  8. Due to the destructive effects of sudden and adverse changes in acceleration on the human body, drivability control has a particular importance in the automotive industry. Driveability control makes car occupants feel a smooth and comfortable driving, and it will play a vital role in the competition between companies to provide a good product with optimal driving quality. In this project, the aim is to achieve a smooth acceleration curve in a vehicle equipped with a manual transmissions. The meaning of smooth acceleration curve is to reduce jerk and shock caused by inappropriate driver behaviors and to control the car's torque and acceleration to a desirable level. In this project, first, the linear model of state space system with seven state variables is identified and it will be shown that this linear model expresses the behavior of nonlinear system well. Then, to optimize the driving capability characteristic, the comfort parameter is specified as a cost function of the controller to improve driveability. The parameter that measures the controller performance for optimization will be the derivative of the driveshaft. For the simulation operation, the parameters of the state space equations for the Denaplus vehicle equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox are calculated and determined. The load torque with a maximum value of 15 N.m is applied to the system and the controller must provide a smoother torque and acceleration curve than without the controller. Output diagrams and state variables for both medium and high tip-in modes and all gear ratios for active and inactive controller, indicate the optimization of the driveshaft torque derivative up to 40 to 50 percent by controlling the electronic throttle torque and as a result the comfort parameter and driveability.By examining the acceleration curve in high tip-in mode and analyzing the key parameters affecting the driveability, it was observed that by applying the controller to the system, the amount of jerk decreased by 40 percent, root mean square acceleration(RMS) decreased by 36 percent, and the dose vibration value decreased by 38 percent. It shows the improvement of the status of the indicators affecting the driveability of the vehicle.
