Abstract
The development of computers and their related software packages provided engineers with the ability to simulate complex chemical processes. These simulations were the stepping stone for in-depth knowledge of the processes and also a prerequisite for the chemical process optimizations. From then, realistic simulation and optimization were always a primary concern for chemical engineers.
