  7. Abstract:
  8. The objective of this paper is to explore and characterize the effect of practical construction details on the dynamic and gravity load carrying capacity of cold-formed steel framed shear walls sheathed with Oriented Strand Board (OSB). In order to improve the lateral stiffness and shear strength of cold-formed steel (CFS) framing wall, an innovative CFS wall equipped with OSB and gypsum boards are experimentally studied in this thesis. For this purpose, six K-braced frames with and without sheathing boards are investigated experimentally under lateral cyclic loading and gravity forces. The failure modes, loaddisplacement responses, and energy absorption capacity of the specimens were investigated. Test observations showed that the infilled walls behaved as an equivalent diagonal bracing along with wall frames to resist the lateral forces. In addition, the failure modes of the infilled walls were characterized by bond-slip cracks between infilled walls and wall frames. The peak lateral load resisted by the infilled specimens were improved by 3-6 times compared with the unfilled CFS panel. Besides, the shear capacity and lateral stiffness of the infilled walls were improved by increasing the compressive strength of the infilled walls
