  7. Abstract:
  8. RF amplifier are one of the most important part of communication industry. microwave tubes are of the most sensitive and expensive parts of such systems, protection measures are of high importance. One of the phenomena that cause failure or degradation of tubes is electric arc in cathode of the tubes and dissipating energy due to that. In order to prevent the tubes from undergoing such harm, protection must be put into consideration. Furthermore, the limit of this dissipating energy determines the capacitor needed at the output of the power supply of the cathode. Since the value of the capacitor is directly proportionate to the amount of ripple of the output voltage, an exact calculation of its value is of high importance. when an intenal fault is accured in tube, this energy is wasted inside the tube , causes serious damage and cooupts the tube. so we need to protect the tube from this phenomena.at high voltage power supply, when an internal fault is accured in tube, beside capacitor energy depletion it draw a significant current from power supplies.in this thesis, at first,we peresent the protection methods for microwave tube and then analyze the extenal protection elements of high power supply for TH781 tetrode tube in order to perevent energy entrance and internal fault occurance inside the tube. we use simulation to validate our analysis and finally we peresnt an experimental system to protect tube by pereventing energy in to the tube
