- Abstract:
- Nowadays, despite the special position of power electronic converters in the world, and the fact that they become an integral part of human life, still in the wake of a serious necessity the development process has not stopped and the increasingly fast pace, it opens up new horizons. This important necessity emerges from the environmental concerns regarding consumption of fossil fuels and their limited and imbalanced distribution which can be effectively addressed with the use renewable energy systems. By improving the quality of the semiconductor switches and offering new topologies in different functions as well as using new control methods, scholars try to develop enhanced converters in terms of efficiency, power density, controllability and power quality. In the meantime, the idea of a new type of converters, such as the resonant converters, paved the way for the design of converters with higher efficiency and power density. This is due to the process of soft switching which decreases the power losses and enables the engineers to increase the switching frequency as much as possible regarding the capacity of the switch and its thermal state. This will lead to the smaller size of the converter thanks to the dependency of magnetic components to the switching frequency. Despite the aforementioned advantages, resonant converters also face certain challenges the most important of which is the difficulty of controlling them in comparison to the PWM converters. As a serious challenge in the design of such converters, it has been addressed in this thesis by using the theory of hybrid systems. In particular, the mixed logical dynamical, this thesis will try to present a comprehensive model that would encompass all areas of its functionality and control the convertor based on this model
