  8. Flow measurement in both types of single phase and multiphase has a crucial place in a wide variety of industries, specially petroleum industry. for single phase flowmeters, improving their precision using different types of mechanical, mathematical and analytical techniques will be considered as an important step. Using multiphase flow meters will cause no need of volume catching and costly separators and also make us capable of taking well-timed decisions in production management. for making flow meters weather multiphase or single phase, there is a crucial need of a multiphase flow loop. To achieve that, an 8-meter-long flow loop using transparent Plexiglas pipes with inside diameter of 40 millimeters with the ability of deviating pipeline upward and downward was made. In the first step the focuses were on improving the precision of ultrasonic single phase flow meters using cross-correlation function and multi-range calibration technique and resulted in making flowmeters capable of measuring single phase liquid flow from 4 lit/hr up to 25000lit/hr. In the next step Taylor-bubble length was analyzed as a challenging issue in making multiphase instruments because of its unstable nature. In the last phase of this project, ultrasonic waves were sent in the two phase water-air flow. All the waves sent in 1 MHz, were totally absorbed by gas bubbles so the features of multi-phase flow couldn’t be interpreted. Using ultrasonic sensors with other frequencies in order to totally penetrate the multiphase flow in the pipe was considered as complementary phase of this project
