A direct method for acoustic impedance measurement based on the measurement of electrical impedance of acoustic transmitter

    , Article Applied Acoustics ; Vol. 77, Issue. 1 , 2014 , pp. 76-81 ; ISSN: 0003-682X Ahadi, M ; Bakhtiar, M. S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A simple and straight forward method for acoustic impedance measurement is presented and evaluated. In this method a speaker is used as the signal source. The relationship between the electrical impedance of the speaker and its acoustical load is developed and studied. It is shown that the electrical current and voltage of the speaker relate to the acoustical pressure and volume velocity. The mechanical and acoustical impedances are therefore easily derived by measuring the electrical current and voltage of the circuit. The proposed method yield itself to the automatic computer measurement and can be used for the field and in situ measurements. Comparison of the measurement data with those...

Using diagenetic processes in facies modeling of a carbonate reservoir

    , Article Energy Sources, Part A: Recovery, Utilization and Environmental Effects ; Volume 35, Issue 6 , Jan , 2013 , Pages 516-528 ; 15567036 (ISSN) Farzaneh, S. A ; Dehghan, A. A ; Lakzaie, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The construction of a facies model could be employed as a conditional data for any property simulation that results in a more reliable reservoir characterization in further steps. In this study, an Iranian gas reservoir with six wells was studied to determine the 3D reservoir facies model. Fifteen reservoir facies were first detected along one of the wells with detailed core and thin section descriptions. Due to the significant difference between the core and log data resolution, facies were clustered into four major groups regarding the digenetic processes and petrophysical lithofacies properties (permeability and porosity). The lithofacies specification effect on petrophysical properties...

A new model of pressure propagation in human tissue in HIFU application

    Abstract
This project is a new pressure model for propagating pressure inside one or several tissues at the time of treatment with high intensity focus ultrasound (HIFU). Pressure's changes are converted to heat's changes in tissue and this is done oscillatory. When the treatment is done in deeper tissues, obtained heat can affect surficial tissues. This pressure effect also can enter surficial tissues. Amount of pressure and heat possible injury can be controlled and reduced through this mechanical modelling. In this model we have used three layers and pressure also is obtained within these three layers and is investigated averagely. Obtained tissue in this mood is kidney tissue and it is tried to...

    Abstract
Obtaining a reliable reservoir permeability map that is consistent with all available data is of great important for reservoir engineers. However, there is not enough core from existing wells to estimate the reservoir permeability directly but Well log data are more widely available. This study aims to model permeability within the reservoir while there is no enough data. In particular, we use artificial neural networks to estimate permeability using four input logs of sonic, gravity, porosity and neutron logs in six existing wells. In order to eliminate the correlated data, we have done Principal Component Analysis on selected input logs. Collocated cokriging is considered as a valuable...

Integrated seismic attributes to characterize a widely distributed carbonate clastic deposit system in khuzestan province, SW Iran

    , Article Journal of Geophysics and Engineering ; Volume 6, Issue 2 , 2009 , Pages 162-171 ; 17422132 (ISSN) Hassanzadeh Azar, J ; Nabi Bidhendi, M ; Javaherian, A ; Pishvaie, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
Integrated seismic attributes, coherency, acoustic impedance (AI), lambda-rho (λρ) and mu-rho (μρ), were used to delineate and to characterize a complex regional channel deposition system in a carbonate reservoir interval in the upper part of the Sarvak Formation. The study area incorporates three adjacent oil fields in SW Iran (Khuzestan Province) covered by three individual 3D seismic surveys having a total area of about 2800 km 2. We generated a regional horizon-based coherency cube using these three seismic surveys. This revealed a carbonate clastic deposition channelling system over the entire study area. We characterized this channel deposition system in agreement with regional...

Investigating the Effect of Tungsten Nanoparticles on the Physical Properties of Polymer Composites

    Abstract
The precise measurement of fluid flow in different fields of the industry is vitally important. In addition, due to enormous hydrocarbon reservoirs, Iran is the biggest owner of gas reservoirs in the world and exact measurement of fluids is of considerable importance to consumption or export. Ultrasonic flowmeters that are the most useful ones of them consist of three elements made of piezoelectric, impedance matching layer and backing material. In this study, on the contrary to former backing materials which usually use of titanium, tungsten, and aluminum oxide as a composite Filler, for the first time, tungsten oxide is used. In order to do this, composite samples were built of tungsten...
