Biodegradability Studies of Atrazine in Bioreactor Receiving Low-Level COD Wastewater

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kamanmalek, Sara (Author) ; Borghei, Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Atrazine is widely used in the agriculture as an herbicide. Due to its high mobility, Atrazine leaks into the groundwater, surface waters, and drinking water wells. Many physical and chemical methods have been suggested for removing Atrazine from aquatic environments. However, these methods are very costly, have many performance problems, produce a lot of toxic intermediates which are very harmful and dangerous, and cannot completely mineralize Atrazine. In this study, biodegradation of Atrazine by microbial consortium was evaluated in the aquatic environment. In order to assess the Atrazine removal from the aquatic environment, Fixed-Bed biofilm reactor and Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor were...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rouhi, Zahra (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This research is a bout a novel sample prepration procedure that used polypyrrole film into a stainless steel needle as a fiber coating for solid phase dynamic extraction(SPDE) with using a home-made SPDE devise and gas chromatography – mass spectroscopy for the extraction and detectionof Atrazine from the aqueous sample in direct mode of SPDE. Polypyrrole film was directly electrodeposited into the needle in a aqueous sodium dodecyl sulfonate solution with pecial set up in optimom condition of potential, time and concentration of polypyrrole. To enhance the sensitivity of the SPDE , variables affecting adsorption and desorption steps such as temperature, time,PH, flowrate and ionic strength...

Polyamide/titania hollow nanofibers prepared by core–shell electrospinning as a microextractive phase in a fabricated sandwiched format microfluidic device

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1528 , 2017 , Pages 1-9 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Rezvani, O ; Hashemi Hedeshi, M ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this study, a low–cost microfluidic device from polymethyl methacrylate was fabricated by laser engraving technique. The device is consisted of a central chip unit with an aligned microchannel. Both sides of the engraved microchannel were sandwiched by two synthesized sheets from polyamide/titania (PA/TiO2) hollow nanofibers as extractive phases. The inlet and outlet of the device were connected to the polyether ether ketone tubes, while a peristaltic pump was used to deliver both sample and desorbing solvent through the microchannel. The recorded scanning electron microscopy images from the surface of the synthesized PA/TiO2 nanofibers, exhibit a good degree of homogeneity and porosity...

Comparative studies on Ag3PO4/BiPO4-metal-organic framework-graphene-based nanocomposites for photocatalysis application

    , Article Applied Surface Science ; Volume 351 , October , 2015 , Pages 216-224 ; 01694332 (ISSN) Mohaghegh, N ; Tasviri, M ; Rahimi, E ; Gholami, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier  2015
    Abstract
For the first time, we report novel Ag3PO4/BiPO4 (AB)-graphene-based photocatalysts. The fabricated nanocomposites were characterized by various techniques. The photocatalytic properties of the prepared catalysts were evaluated by the photodegradation of Atrazine herbicide under both visible and UV light irradiation. Atrazine concentration was determined using the spectrophotometric method according to the Konig's reaction by monitoring the absorbance at 470 nm wavelength during the photodegradation process. Both degradation rate and efficiency using graphene (GR)-based nanocomposites are found to be much better than using pure AB. Atrazine photodegradation displayed that the AB supporting...

Use of second-order calibration for residue screening of some triazines in the presence of coeluting interferences by gas chromatography-selected ion mass spectrometry

    , Article Analytica Chimica Acta ; Volume 537, Issue 1-2 , 2005 , Pages 89-100 ; 00032670 (ISSN) Jalali Heravi, M ; Vosough, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier  2005
    Abstract
The quantities of residues of some triazines such as prometon, propazine, atrazine and simazine in complex matrices of apple samples were determined, using gas chromatography-selected ion mass (GC-SIM) spectrometry. Generalized rank annihilation method (GRAM) as a second-order calibration technique was used for screening, resolving and finally determining the amounts of the residues. Before the GRAM analysis, different steps of data preprocessing such as background correction, de-skewing and standardization for rank alignment was used for every target analyte. The de-skewing and rank alignment algorithms were used for bilinearity and trilinearity corrections, respectively. The two data...

    Abstract
In this study magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3 O4) were synthesized and embedded in activated carbon (AC) derived from waste tire rubber to produce magnetic activated carbon. The atrazine (C8 H14 ClN5) adsorption was performed over (AC/Fe3 O4) nanocomposite in an aqueous solution and adsorp-tion isotherms and kinetics were determined. The effects of some parameters such as (pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage and initial pesticide concentration) were investigated. Characterization of nanocomposite was carried out by high-resolution scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, Brunauer–Emmett– Teller, Fourier-transform...

    Abstract
Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) is a sensitive vibration spectroscopy method applied to analyze a variety of analytes, including toxins and pesticides. The SERS method is an accurate method for detecting significantly low concentrations of biomaterials and chemicals. In the present study, in order to detect atrazine pesticide, the glass fiber substrates coated with silver nanoparticles have been used as SERS plasmonic nanosensors. First, silver nanoparticles were prepared by applying a chemical approach named the Tollens' method, and the SERS plasmonic substrates (SPS) were fabricated by depositing the colloidal silver solution on a glass fiber substrate. The SERS plasmonic...
