Processing and Investigation of the Properties of Chitosan/Celloluse Nanocomposite Wound Dressing Fabricated by Electrospinning Method

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Faraji Safiloo, Negar (Author) ; Bagheri, Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
It is a common method to use some proper materials such as honey, herbal fibers, and minerals for covering the wounds as an effective treatment. Nowadays biopolymers and new methods of nanofiber production to build a structure similar to the natural extracellular matrix (ECM) like electrospinning are used to reduce the time of restoration and prevent from the effects of wounds such as bedsores, diabetic ulcers, and severe burns. For effective design of a wound dressing, wound feature, recovery time, physical, mechanical, and biological properties should be considered in order to best as possible heal the bound. In this research, cellulose nanocrystals with average aspect ratio of 11.8 and...

Synthesis and Investigation of Properties of Biocompatible Polyurethane Acrylate Based Nanocomposites/Cellulose Nanocrystals

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Beik Mohammadi, Mahbubeh (Author) ; Shojaei, Akbar (Supervisor) ; Salkhi, Samaneh (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Bio-based shape memory polymers with fast-response have high potential for use in medical applications. In this study, biocompatible and biodegradable nanocomposites based on shape memory polyurethane acrylates (SMPUA)/cellulose nanocrystals (CNC), were synthesized by in-situ polymerization. CNC is a natural and renewable nanoparticle that has been considered for medical applications due to its excellent mechanical and biological properties and surface chemistry. At the first phase of this study, in order to synthesize UV-curable shape memory polyurethane acrylate, polycaprolactone diol (PCL-Diol), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) were used as an reactive...

Investigation of Nanocellulose Performance on the Corrosion Control in Polymeric Coating

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shahnavaz, Alireza (Author) ; Shojaei, Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Cellulose nanocrystals as a reinforcement in polymer nanocomposites are part of current research for reasons such as source renewable, biocompatibility, nanoscale dimensions, high specific surface area, and surface chemistry. This research used cellulose nanocrystals as a corrosion inhibitor carrier in epoxy-based composite with 1% by weight. In order to load the corrosion inhibitor, firstly, cellulose nanocrystals were surface modified by aniline so that they can spread well in the hydrophobic epoxy matrix. Different corrosion inhibitors were tested for adsorption on the surface of cellulose nanocrystals modified with polyaniline, but finally the acidic agent of phosphoric acid showed...

    Abstract
The performance of a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) used as a sensor/detector relies on the performance and quality of the film coated onto the quartz crystal sensor. This study focuses on the sensor coating preparation for the detection of glycine. Cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs), natural polymers, were coated on a quartz crystal (QC) surface by a spin-coating method. The prepared CNF-coated QC was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry-attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR), Raman spectroscopy, and water contact angle (WCA). The stable and fully covered QCs without further...
