CVD-grown TiO2 particles as light scattering structures in dye-sensitized solar cells

    , Article RSC Advances ; Volume 2, Issue 32 , 2012 , Pages 12278-12285 ; 20462069 (ISSN) Pazoki, M ; Taghavinia, N ; Abdi, Y ; Tajabadi, F ; Boschloo, G ; Hagfeldt, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
Chemical vapour deposition (CVD) at atmospheric pressure, using TiCl 4 as a precursor, was used to grow nanostructured TiO2 films on glass substrates. At relatively low temperatures (∼245 °C) and using relatively high reactant concentrations, different nano-morphologies of TiO2 were formed simultaneously, such as spheres, nanowires and mesoporous structures. The TiO2 spheres were successfully applied as light-scattering particles in dye-sensitized solar cells, either by direct deposition onto electrodes in the reactor, or by preparation of a printing paste from the deposited particles. For dye-sensitized solar cells using the organic dye D35 as sensitizer and a cobalt-complex based redox...

    Abstract
We describe an intelligent co-simulator for real time production control of a complex flexible manufacturing system (CFMS) having machine and tool flexibility. The manufacturing processes associated with the CFMS are complicated with each operation being possibly done by several machining centers. The co-simulator design approach is built upon the theory of dynamic meta-model based supervisory control with the cooperation of its own embedded intelligent blocks. The system is implemented by coupling of the centralized simulation controller (CSC) and real-time simulator for enforcing dynamic strategies of shop floor control. The posteriori adaptive co-simulator is equipped with a concurrent...

    , Article Bioelectrochemistry ; Volume 81, Issue 2 , 2011 , Pages 81-85 ; 15675394 (ISSN) Amiri, M ; Pakdel, Z ; Bezaatpour, A ; Shahrokhian, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
The electrochemical oxidation of sumatriptan on the surface of carbon paste electrode modified with multi-walled carbon nanotube and cobalt methyl-salophen complex is studied by using cyclic voltammetry and polarization studies. The results indicate that the drug is irreversibly oxidized in a one electron oxidation mechanism. It was found that the peak potential shifted negatively with increasing pH, confirms that H + participate in the oxidation process. The electrode is shown to be very effective for the detection of sumatriptan in the presence of other biological reductant compounds. The prepared modified electrode exhibits a very good resolution between the voltammetric peaks of...

RETRACTED ARTICLE: Study of stabilities of L-cysteine and L-methionine with divalent metal ions: A comparison of thermodynamic data

    , Article 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, iCBBE 2011 ; 2011 ; 9781424450893 (ISBN) Sajadi, S. A. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The acidity and stability constants of M-Met (M: M2+; Met 1: L-methionine) complexes, determined by potentiometric pH titrations, were used to make a comparative investigation with L-cysteine (Cys). It is shown that regarding to M ion - binding properties vital differences on complex bilding were considered. It is demonstrated, that in M-Met complexes, M ion is coordinated to the carboxyl group, M ion is also able to build macrochelate over amine group. The upmentioned results demonstrate that for M-Met complex the stability constants is also largly determined by the affinity of Cu2+ for amino group but in opposite to Met, some metal ions such as Co2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ build with Cys 2...

    , Article International Journal of Engineering, Transactions B: Applications ; Volume 24, Issue 2 , 2011 , Pages 183-192 ; 1728-144X (ISSN) Darvishi, D ; Haghshenas, D. F ; Alamdari, E. K ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
Effects of pH, D2EHPA, Cyanex® 272 and Cyanex® 302 on extraction of zinc, manganese and cobalt from a Zn-Mn-Co-Cd-Ni containing solution at the room temperature was comprehensively investigated. Addition of Cyanex® 302 indicated a left-shifting-effect on the extraction curve of zinc, a right-shifting-effect on the extraction curve of manganese and no effect on the extraction of cobalt. Addition of Cyanex® 272 shifted all three curves to the right. Therefore, the most suitable extractant for separation of zinc from manganese was therefore 0.3-0.3 mixture of D2EHPA and Cyanex® 302, and that for separation of manganese from cobalt was pure D2EHPA. The stoichiometric coefficient for the...

On graphs whose star sets are (co-)cliques

    , Article Linear Algebra and Its Applications ; Volume 430, Issue 1 , 2009 , Pages 504-510 ; 00243795 (ISSN) Akbari, S ; Ghorbani, E ; Mahmoodi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper we study graphs all of whose star sets induce cliques or co-cliques. We show that the star sets of every tree for each eigenvalue are independent sets. Among other results it is shown that each star set of a connected graph G with three distinct eigenvalues induces a clique if and only if G = K1, 2 or K2, ..., 2. It is also proved that stars are the only graphs with three distinct eigenvalues having a star partition with independent star sets. © 2008 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved

    Abstract
We prepared copper-carbon nanocomposite films by co-deposition of RF-Sputtering and RF-PECVD methods at room temperature. These films contain different copper concentration and different size of copper nanoparticles. The copper content of these films was obtained from Rutherford Back Scattering (RBS) analyze. We studied electrical resistivity of samples versus copper content. A metal-nonmetal transition was observed by decreasing of copper content in these films. The electrical conductivity of dielectric and metallic samples was explained by tunneling and percolation models respectively. In the percolation threshold conduction results from two mechanisms: percolation and tunneling. In the...

    Abstract
The main contribution of this paper is utilizing bio-inspired evolutionary algorithm for reliability oriented high level synthesis. In this paper genetic algorithm is used to schedule a data-flow graph considering latency and resource allocation considering resource constraints and area overhead. Then a co-evolutionary strategy merges the results of these solutions to find the RT level design of the circuit which satisfies both performance and area constraints. To satisfy the user-defined reliability, another genetic algorithm is developed to insert some hardware redundancies to the resulted data-path. Experimental results show using the proposed approach results in an acceptable reliability...

Carbon-paste electrode modified with cobalt-5-nitrolsalophen as a sensitive voltammetric sensor for detection of captopril

    , Article Sensors and Actuators, B: Chemical ; Volume 109, Issue 2 , 2005 , Pages 278-284 ; 09254005 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Karimi, M ; Khajehsharifi, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2005
    Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of captopril at the surface of a carbon-paste electrode (CPE) modified with cobalt-5-nitrolsalophen (CoNSal) is described. The prepared electrode shows an excellent electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of captopril, which is leading to marked lowering in the anodic overpotential and considerable improvement of sensitivity (anodic current). Whereas at the surface of unmodified electrode an electrochemical activity for captopril cannot be observed, a very sharp anodic wave with an anodic peak potential about 650 mV (versus Ag/AgCl) is obtained using the prepared modified electrode. This catalytic wave is assigned to mediating of Co(III)/Co(II) redox...

Arithmetic circuits verification without looking for internal equivalences

    , Article 2008 6th ACM and IEEE International Conference on Formal Methods and Models for Co-Design, MEMOCODE'08, Anaheim, CA, 5 June 2008 through 7 June 2008 ; 2008 , Pages 7-16 ; 9781424424177 (ISBN) Sarbishei, O ; Alizadeh, B ; Fujita, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel approach to extract a network of half adders from the gate-level net-list of an addition circuit while no internal equivalences exist. The technique begins with a gatelevel net-list and tries to map it into word-level adders based on an efficient bit-level adder representation. It will be shown that the proposed technique is suitable for several gate-level architectures of multipliers, as it extracts adder components in a step-wise method. This approach can also be generalized to other arithmetic circuits. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of our approach, we run it on several arithmetic circuits and compare experimental results with those of...
