    Abstract
    In this paper we propose to control a bipedal robot in an unstable position by means of a PID controller that gains are turned by a fuzzy logic system. For that, a model of planar 3 linked segment consisting of limb, trunk and extended arms with fixed base is used. Fuzzy if-then rules are constructed based on human expert knowledge and biomechanics studies for tuning of PID's gain.     Application of fractional order PID (FOPID) controller to an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) is presented and studied in this paper. An FOPID is a PID whose derivative and integral orders are fractional numbers rather than integers. Design stage of such a controller consists of determining five parameters. This paper employs particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to carry out the aforementioned design procedure. PSO is an advanced search procedure that has proved to have very high efficiency. This method uses particle swarm optimization algorithm to minimize a cost function subject to-norm to design robust performance PID controller.     Abstract
    The current methods of predictive controllers are utilized for those processes in which the rate of output variations is not high. For such processes, therefore, stability can be achieved by implementing the constrained predictive controller or applying infinite prediction horizon. When the rate of the output growth is high (e.g. for unstable nonminimum phase process) the stabilization seems to be problematic. In order to avoid this, it is suggested to change the method in the way that: first, the prediction error growth should be decreased at the early stage of the prediction horizon, and second, the rate of the error variation should be penalized.     This paper presents a robust decentralized proportional-integral (PI) control design as a solution of the load frequency control (LFC) in a multi-area power system. In the proposed methodology, the system robustness margin and transient performance are optimized simultaneously to achieve the optimum PI controller parameters. The Kharitonov's theorem is used to determine the robustness margin, i.e., the maximal uncertainty bounds under which the stable performance of the power system is guaranteed.     In this paper, the participation of wind farms in load frequency control (LFC) is studied. A previously proposed macromodel for the wind farm is employed to regulate its output power. The wind farm including its proposed control strategy is incorporated into the conventional LFC model. The proposed LFC structure is able to dynamically maintain the system frequency at the nominal value against the power imbalances.     Fractional order PI and PID controllers are the most common fractional order controllers used in practice. In this paper, a simple analytical method is proposed for tuning the parameters of these controllers. The proposed method is useful in designing fractional order PI and PID controllers for control of complicated fractional order systems.     Abstract
    This article introduces a novel duty-cycle control circuit (DCC) preceding a delay-locked loop (DLL)-based clock frequency multiplier preventing the output duty-cycle over process, supply voltage and temperature (PVT) variations. However, the proposed DCC eliminates the effect of input duty-cycle variation and, hence, decreases the sensitivity to the input jitter and distortion. The circuit realisation in 0.5-μm CMOS technology shows that the duty-cycle variation at the output clock is less than 2.7%, while driving the digital section of a CODEC chip and also test pads.     Pre-compensators are used in multivariable control systems to reduce (or eliminate) open loop system interactions. Classical methods for the design of pre-compensator are traditionally based on static designs.     Design of robotic fish based on hydrodynamics is presented and Lighthill's Large Amplitude Elongated Body Theory (LAEBT) is used for modeling of the robotic fish in linear path.     In this paper an indirect adaptive control algorithm is proposed to stabilize the fixed points of discrete chaotic systems. It is assumed that the functionality of the chaotic dynamics is known but the system parameters are unknown. This assumption is usually applicable to many chaotic systems, such as the Henon map, logistic and many other nonlinear maps.
