    Abstract
    In spite of developments in microwave mixers, reducing its noise figure is still a designers’ challenge in receiver applications. Due to generating intermodulations and saturating the following stages, the low noise amplifier cannot have a so much gain to decrease the noise of the following stages in a typical receiver. This problem is intensified in special applications because of low dynamic range of low noise amplifiers. Accordingly, the low noise amplifier is replaced sometimes by the mixer.     Analysis of Effect of Parametric Oscillation in Phase Noise Degradation in Frequency Multipliers

    Abstract
    Variation of the input driving power can cause in some varactor and BJT frequency multipliers parametric instability. If parametric oscillations are present in the circuit, output phase noise of the multiplier degrades remarkably in some specific driving levels. Phase noise of the varactor and BJT multiplier is calculated by the conversion matrix method using generalized nodal analysis.     An analytical approach in analysis of local oscillator near-the-carrier AM noise suppression in microwave balanced mixers

    Abstract
    In this paper, a new formulation based on conversion matrix method is proposed to analyze near-the-carrier local ocillator (LO) noise down conversion to IF in microwave mixers. This method could be easily applied to analyze LO noise down conversion in any type of mixer. Practical results of this method have been compared with the envelope method and measurement results. It is shown that despite the conventional AM noise suppression in balanced mixers, the near-the-carrier LO noise suppression does not occur necessarily at the center frequency of hybrid in balanced mixers. AM noise suppression values are predicted precisely. © 2006 IEEE

    Abstract
    In this paper an analytical formulation based on the conversion matrix approach for characterizing the oscillator noise spectra as well as the phase and amplitude noise spectra for a single-loop optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) is presented. The validity of this approach is verified by comparing our results regarding the noise spectra of the OEO against the results of two references in the literature. The first reference presents simulation results, and the second reference presents both simulation and measurement results, and good agreement is seen between the results of the new method and those of the references.     New results regarding phase and amplitude noise analysis in microwave oscillators for moderate offset frequencies from the carrier are presented. Although the phase noise process in an oscillator is a large signal non-stationary process, it is proved that for the purpose of phase noise calculations for moderate offset frequencies, the phase noise process can be considered as a small signal stationary process and by this assumption, a valid approximation of the phase noise spectrum at these offset frequencies is obtained.
