    Prolonging lifetime of PCM-based main memories through on-demand page pairing

    With current memory scalability challenges, Phase-Change Memory (PCM) is viewed as an attractive replacement to DRAM. The preliminary concern for PCM applicability is its limited write endurance that results in fast wear-out of memory cells. Worse, process variation in the deep-nanometer regime increases the variation in cell lifetime, resulting in an early and sudden reduction in main memory capacity due to the wear-out of a few cells. Recent studies have proposed redirection or correction schemes to alleviate this problem, but all suffer poor throughput or latency.     In this paper, the Heidaryan and Jarrahian equation of state (Heidaryan and Jarrahian, 2013) has been adapted as a first worldwide cubic EOS to calculate the density of dry natural gases, wet natural gases, and single-phase gas condensates "sweet and sour mixtures" (up to 73.85, 97.63 and 38.37 mol percent of H2S, CO2, and N2 respectively) even when the gas composition is unknown, through new gas specific gravity correlation equations. Correction terms of water content as high as 10 mol percent of H2O and hythane (natural gas + hydrogen) as high as 74.9 mol percent of H2 were obtained.     PSP-Cache: A low-cost fault-tolerant cache memory architecture

    Cache memories constitute a large fraction of processor chip area and are highly vulnerable to soft errors caused by energetic particles. To protect these memories, most of the modern processors employ Error Detection Codes (EDCs) or Error Correction Codes (ECCs). EDCs/ECCs impose significant overheads in terms of area and energy; these overheads increase as a function of interleaving EDCs/ECCs to detect/correct multiple errors. This paper proposes a new cache architecture to minimize the area and energy overheads of EDCs/ECCs in set-associative L1-caches.     Abstract
    This paper introduces a public key scheme based on polar codes to improve the performance of McEliece cryptosystem. By exploiting the interesting properties of polar codes, we put the encryption matrix of the proposed scheme in systematic form. Moreover, the nonsingular matrix is constructed from the generator matrix of used polar code. These proceedings lead to decrease the public and private key lengths compared with the original McEliece public key cryptosystem. We analyze the proposed scheme against known attacks on the public key cryptosystems based on channel coding.     One of the main issues in Solid State Drive (SSD)-based storage systems is endurance which is directly affected by the number of Program/Erase (P/E) cycles. The increment of P/E cycles increases the bit error rate threatening the reliability of SSDs. Erasure codes are used to leverage the reliability of storage systems but they also affect the number of P/E cycles based on their code pattern. A lower dependency between data and parities in the code pattern may lead to smaller number of P/E cycles providing better endurance.     A simple correlation to estimate natural gas thermal conductivity

    Abstract
    A general investigation of the thermal conductivity of natural gas as a function of temperature, pressure and composition was carried out to develop a generalized correlation. The model obtained was based on 731 data points of 42 binary mixtures in wide ranges of pressures (0.1-300MPa), temperatures (220-425K) and specific gravities (0.626-1.434). Correction terms for non-hydrocarbons of carbon dioxide and nitrogen were up to 87.8 and 82.8 of mole percent, respectively. The arithmetic average of the model's absolute error was found to be 5.69%, which is acceptable in engineering calculations
