    Abstract
    A novel, simple and rapid spectrophotometric method for the determination of nitrophenol (NP) isomer mixtures based on the catalytic activity of gold nanoparticles is described. Gold nanoparticle (∼13 nm) solution was used to catalyze the reduction of NP isomers to aminophenols with an excess amount of NaBH4. The second-order data were obtained by spectrophotometrically monitoring the reduction process of NP isomers.     We propose novel techniques to find the optimal location, size, and power factor of distributed generation (DG) to achieve the maximum loss reduction for distribution networks. Determining the optimal DG location and size is achieved simultaneously using the energy loss curves technique for a pre-selected power factor that gives the best DG operation. Based on the network's total load demand, four DG sizes are selected. They are used to form energy loss curves for each bus and then for determining the optimal DG options.     This paper proposes a new experimental procedure for magnetic characterization of switched reluctance machines. In the existing methods, phase voltage and current data are captured and further processed to find the flux linkage. Conventionally, assuming zero initial flux value, the flux linkage can be found by integrating the corresponding voltage term. However, the initial flux value is usually unknown, e.g., it can be nonzero when the current is zero due to the residual flux effect, and, thus, imposes error in magnetic characterization.     Abstract
    Context. Caustic crossing is the clearest signature of binary lenses in microlensing. In the present context, this signature is diluted by the large source star but a detailed analysis has allowed the companion signal to be extracted. Aims. MOA 2009-BLG-411 was detected on August 5, 2009 by the MOA-Collaboration. Alerted as a high-magnification event, it was sensitive to planets. Suspected anomalies in the light curve were not confirmed by a real-time model, but further analysis revealed small deviations from a single lens extended source fit. Methods.     PV generation variability and uncertainty significantly influence operation of the power systems with high penetration of PV sources. The potential impact of distributed PV generation on ramp rate requirements in the IEEE 24-bus system is evaluated in this paper. PV generation and load are, here, probabilistically modeled using actual data and curve fitting approach. Probabilistic unit commitment (UC) based on unit de-commitment method combined with two point estimate method (2-PEM) is used to determine the ramp rate required to compensate for the PV power fluctuations. In this paper, Closed-form solutions for the 50% delay, rise time and overshoots of the step response of distributed Single Wall Carbon Nanotube (SWCNT), which consists RC and RLC parts, are presented for the first time.     The extracted Iranian olive fruit essential oil was analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Multivariate curve resolution-alternative least squares approach was used to overcome the problem of background, baseline offset and overlapping/embedded peaks in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The analysis of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry data revealed that 90 components exist in the olive fruit essential oil. However, with the help of multivariate curve resolution-alternative least squares this number was extended to 141 components with concentrations higher than 0.01%.     A new nonlinear optimization method for parameter estimation in Michaelis-Menten equation has been developed. This method is based on a special mathematical form of the Michaelis-Menten equation to finding the best fit of the linear plot of R versus S/(S + Km) where R, S, and Km are the reaction rate, concentration of substrate, and the Michaelis-Menten constant, respectively. By setting the intercept of this line to zero, the proper Km will be obtained and the slope would give the saturation rate, Vmax.     Abstract
    In the welding process, droplet detachment regularity is important for a good welding quality. The frequency of detachment is one of influential indices for assessing the quality of GMAW in the globular transfer mode. In this paper, a relationship is estimated for measuring droplet detachment frequency in the globular GMAW. The droplet detachment frequency is estimated with a curve fitting by the least squares error (LSE) method. By using short time frequency transform (STFT) we can extract the frequency contents from the mass of drop that is one of the states in the welding model

Not only is gravitational microlensing a successful tool for discovering distant exoplanets, but it also enables characterization of the lens and source stars involved in the lensing event. Aims. In high-magnification events, the lens caustic may cross over the source disk, which allows determination of the angular size of the source and measurement of its limb darkening. Methods. When such extended-source effects appear close to maximum magnification, the resulting light curve differs from the characteristic Paczyński point-source curve.     Uranium (VI) sorption using an anionic exchanger resin, namely Amberlite IRA910, in the presence of sulfate anions was the subject of current study. Batch sorption experiments were carried out to evaluate the influence of operational parameters such as pH, contact time, initial concentration and existence of various anions (including phosphate, sulfate, chloride, fluoride, and nitrate) in the solution on Amberlite IRA910 sorption behavior. Experiments revealed that uranium adsorption was fulfiled at pH>3 and 50 min to amount of 80%.     Design and optimization of centrifugal compressors, based on main blades configuration of impeller have been vastly discussed in open literature, but less researches have addressed splitters. In this research, the impeller of a commercial turbocharger compressor is investigated. Here, profiles of main blades are not changed while the effect of changing the configuration of splitters is studied.
