    Abstract
    Thermal analysis of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dams is generally carried out considering identical ambient boundary conditions at upstream and downstream faces. For the case of Shahri-Kor Dam (an RCC dam with a height of 57 m), recorded thermal data depicts a considerable difference between upstream and downstream ambient temperatures, especially during cold months. This paper investigates how taking this difference into account can affect the thermal response of the dam. For this purpose, two thermal analyses are carried out with and without consideration of these different ambient boundary conditions (DABC).     Abstract
    Damage assessment of concrete arch dams is carried out through nonlinear Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) of a typical arch dam. In this study the Morrow Point arch dam is subjected to a set of 12 three-component earthquakes each scaled to 12 increasing intensity levels. The dam-foundation interaction effects have been investigated by varying foundation's modulus of elasticity to be equal and half of dam concrete's modulus of elasticity.     Abstract
    Seepage analysis serves as one of the most significant stages in the design process of an embankment dam. In two-dimensional (2D) seepage analysis of embankment dams, little or no attention is paid to the seepage through side abutments. Moreover the role of grout curtain extensions into the side abutments and abutment material properties are inevitably neglected when performing a 2D seepage analysis.     Abstract
    In this paper the effects of the first reservoir filling on rockfill dams were studied numerically. To simulate the problem a simplified coupled formulation based on Biot's theory associated with unsaturated soils was presented. The finite element method was applied to the governing equations for the spatial discretization, followed by a generalized Newmark scheme used for the time domain discretization. The three effects of reservoir filling, collapse settlement produced by wetting the rockfill, water load on the dam body and buoyancy in the upstream shell were introduced.     Abstract
    In this work, impulsive wave generation and propagation generated by landslides are studied numerically for a real case. Maku dam reservoir, in the northwestern of Iran is considered as the case study. Generated wave heights, wave run-up, maximum wave height above the dam crest and the probable overtopping volume have been evaluated, using a two-dimensional numerical model (LS3D). This model is validated using available three-dimensional experimental data for simulating impulsive wave caused by sub-aerial landslides.
