    Abstract
Herein, the effect of electrodeposition time on the super-capacitive performance of three-dimensional (3D) MnO2/g-C3N4 heterostructured electrodes was investigated. MnO2 nanoparticles were electrodeposited on the g-C3N4 nanosheets drop-casted on the Ni foam substrate. The microstructural analysis, carried out by FE-SEM and TEM, confirmed the homogeneous distribution of MnO2 nanoparticles on g-C3N4 nano-sheet layers. The electrochemical capacitive performances of the MnO2/g-C3N4 electrodes were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge/discharge tests, and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS). The obtained results suggested that the supercapacitor (SC) performance of all...

Electrochemical deposition of gold nanoparticles on carbon nanotube coated glassy carbon electrode for the improved sensing of tinidazole

    , Article Electrochimica Acta ; Volume 78 , September , 2012 , Pages 422-429 ; 00134686 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Rastgar, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The electrochemical reduction of tinidazole (TNZ) is studied on gold-nanoparticle/carbon-nanotubes (AuNP/CNT) modified glassy carbon electrodes using the linear sweep voltammetry. An electrochemical procedure was used for the deposition of gold nanoparticles onto the carbon nanotube film pre-cast on a glassy carbon electrode surface. The resulting nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The effect of the electrodeposition conditions, e.g., salt concentration and deposition time on the response of the electrode was studied. Also, the effect of experimental parameters, e.g., potential and time of accumulation, pH of the buffered solutions and...

Real-time measurement of oxidation dynamics of sub-stoichiometric tungsten oxide films by pulsed laser deposition

    , Article Applied Physics A: Materials Science and Processing ; Volume 92, Issue 3 , 7 June , 2008 , Pages 627-634 ; 09478396 (ISSN) Ranjbar, M ; Iraji Zad, A ; Mahdavi, S. M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this study WO x films were deposited by laser ablation of ultra-pure (5N) tungsten trioxide targets onto SiO2 or silicon substrates at 250°C temperature, 100 mTorr oxygen partial pressure and 1×10-5 Torr vacuum. Surface chemical states and compositions of the deposits were determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that deposits in oxygen partial pressure contain W6+ with x ∼ 3.1, while vacuum-deposited films have different W states with various percentage distributions as W4+>W5+>W 6+>W0, and x ∼ 1. We used fast electrical resistance measurement as a probe to study the deposition process. Film resistance as a function of deposition time in vacuum revealed some...

Electrophoretic deposition of chitosan/45S5 Bioglass® composite coatings for orthopaedic applications

    , Article Surface and Coatings Technology ; Volume 205, Issue 23-24 , 2011 , Pages 5260-5268 ; 02578972 (ISSN) Pishbin, F ; Simchi, A ; Ryan, M. P ; Boccaccini, A. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This article presents experimental results on the electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of bioresorbable chitosan/45S5 Bioglass® composite coatings for orthopaedic implants based on the Taguchi design of experiments (DOE) approach. The influence of EPD parameters including Bioglass® concentration, electric voltage and deposition time on deposition yield was studied by an orthogonal Taguchi array of L18 type. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and regression analysis based on the partial least-square method were used to identify the significant factors affecting the deposition yield and its stability during constant-voltage EPD. The coatings were characterised by high resolution scanning...

Template-based growth of titanium dioxide nanorods by a particulate sol-electrophoretic deposition process

    , Article Particuology ; Volume 9, Issue 2 , 2011 , Pages 161-169 ; 16742001 (ISSN) Mohammadi, M. R ; Ordikhani, F ; Fray, D. J ; Khomamizadeh, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
TiO2 nanorods have been successfully grown into a track-etched polycarbonate (PC) membrane by a particulate sol-electrophoretic deposition from an aqueous medium. The prepared sols had a narrow particle size distribution around 17 nm and excellent stability against aging, with zeta potentials in the range of 47-50 mV at pH 2. It was found that TiO2 nanorods were grown from dilute aqueous sol with a low, 0.1-M concentration. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis confirmed that a full conversion of titanium isopropoxide was obtained by hydrolysis, resulting in the formation of TiO2 particles. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results revealed that TiO2 nanorods dried at 100 °C were a...

Facile synthesis of highly efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst by vanadium oxysulfide spheres on cobalt-cobalt sulfonitride nanosheets for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction

    , Article Electrochimica Acta ; Volume 391 , 2021 ; 00134686 (ISSN) Asen, P ; Esfandiar, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Synthesis of efficient, low-cost, and stable bifunctional electrocatalysts with earth-abundant resources for electrochemical water electrolysis is a challenging subject for large-scale energy conversion processes. Herein, we report a high-performance electrocatalyst based on vanadium oxysulfide/cobalt-cobalt sulfonitride (VOS/Co-CoSN) for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction (OER and HER). The Co-CoSN film was synthesized on a copper sheet (CS) by a facile electrodeposition method. Then, VOS was electrochemically grown onto the Co-CoSN@CS electrode at various deposition times. At the optimal deposition time (300 s), the obtained VOS-300/Co-CoSN catalyst was studied for OER and HER in...

    Abstract
Tubular ceramic membranes were synthesized by depositing a dense layer of silica-alumina on top of a multilayer substrate using co-current chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The multilayer substrate was prepared by coating with a series of bohemite sols with certain particle sizes. Cross-sectional and surface images obtained from high resolution FESEM showed that the intermediate layer had a thickness of about 1μm and the top selective layer was uniform and dense with a thickness of less than 100nm. Permeance tests, which were carried out with H 2, CO 2, N 2 and CH 4 at a high temperature range of 923-1073K, indicated that gas permeation took place via different mechanisms through...
