    Characterization of pulse reverse Ni-Mo coatings on Cu substrate

    Abstract
    The effect of pulse reverse current (PRC) method on Ni-Mo coatings electroplated from chloride solution was investigated by various plating parameters such as plating duration, the anodic duty cycle, the anodic current density and the cathodic current density. By increasing the anodic duty cycle and anodic current density, the Mo content of coatings reached 68wt.% and 78wt.%, respectively at cathodic current densities of 500 and 300mAcm-2. The Mo content of coatings increases by the preferential dissolution of Ni on the anodic pulse and also by the replenishment of Mo complexes in the diffusion layer near the substrate surface during the anodic pulse.     Abstract
    A duplex surface treatment on DIN 1.2210 steel has been developed involving nitriding and followed by chromium thermo-reactive deposition (TRD) techniques. The TRD process was performed in molten salt bath at 550, 625 and 700°C for 1-14h. The process formed a thickness up to 9.5μm of chromium carbonitride coatings on a hardened diffusion zone. Characterization of the coatings by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) indicates that the compact and dense coatings mainly consist of Cr(C,N) and Cr2(C,N) phase.     Abstract
    In order to produce a thick near equi-atomic NiTi intermetallic layer on the surface of titanium plate, layers of nickel with thicknesses of 30 μm and 60 μm were electroplated on commercial pure (Cp) titanium and subsequently were heat treated at 850°C and 900°C. The effects of heat treating temperature and the thickness of electroplated nickel on the evolution of the microstructure and mechanical properties were studied. The results confirm the formation of various intermetallic layers in the coatings that substantially affect their hardness.     Abstract
    Ni-base superalloys such as René 80 are widely used for aircraft turbine blades manufacture, due to possesses suitable mechanical, oxidation and hot corrosion properties. It is usually coated in order to increase its wear, oxidation, erosion and hot corrosion properties against environmental degradation. One the most important properties of coatings is its DBTT. In this paper the behavior of uncoated and coated (CODEP-B) René 80 has been studied near the DBTT (871 °C), R = (εmin/εmax) = 0 and strain rate of about 2 × 10-3 s-1.     Abstract
    In this research, formation of aluminide/silicide diffusion coatings on γ -TiAl[Ti-48Al-2Nb-2Cr (at.%)] alloy using gasphase diffusion pack cementation process has been investigated. The application of powder mixtures with various chemical compositions in the pack cementation process performed at 1000°C for 6 hours in order to achieve simultaneous diffusion of Al and Si, showed that the composition of the powder mixture could have a significant effect on the structure and thickness of the aluminide/silicide coatings.     Abstract
    Low cycle fatigue is one of the most important phenomena affecting the lifetime of jet engine blades. In this paper, the effect of aluminide diffusion coating (CODEP-B) on low cycle fatigue properties of René 80 has been studied at temperature of 871 °C, R = 0 and strain rate of about 2 × 10-3 s-1. Experimental results show that the applied cyclic strain is lower than 0.8%, the presence of aforesaid coating increases the fatigue lifetime.     Abstract
    Ni-base superalloy René 80 is widely used in manufacturing aircraft turbine blades. The service temperature of this alloy is in the range of 760-982 °C. Although this alloy possesses suitable mechanical, oxidation and hot corrosion properties, it is coated in order to increase its wear, oxidation, erosion and hot corrosion properties against harmful environmental service conditions. In this paper the influence of applying diffusion coating (CODEP-B) on the tensile properties of René 80 has been studied in the temperature range of 22-982 °C.
