    Abstract
In this study, a thermal method was used to synthesize spinel NiCo2O4 and carbon nanotubes (CNTs)@NiCo2O4 with an average size 50 nm and 20 nm, respectively. Addition of CNTs into NiCo2O4 noticeably increases the active surface area compared to pure spinel NiCo2O4. SEM analyses showed that the morphologies are spherical in both pure and composite samples. Uniform CNTs@NiCo2O4 nanoparticles exhibit high specific capacitance of 210 F g−1 at 2 A g−1 and a good retention capacity of 92.70% after 2500 cycles, which shows a considerable improvement compared to NiCo2O4. Additionally, an exceptional rate capability of about 73.2% was obtained at 50 A g−1. Such remarkable electrochemical performance...

    Abstract
We report on the MoS2 and MoOx (x = 2 and 3) composite thin layers, electrodeposited, onto a Florine doped Tin Oxide (FTO) substrate. Our results show a change in relative content of these compounds in different thicknesses ranging from ∼20 to 540 nm. This change in the relative content at different thicknesses leads to a change in optical and electrical properties including bandgap and the type of semiconductivity. A sharp transition from p to n-type of semiconductivity is observed by scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements. We find that the spin-orbit interaction of Mo 3d electrons in the MoS2 and MoO3 enhances by significant reduction of the MoO3 content in thicker layers. © 2017...

In recent years, the technological advancement of supercapacitors has been increasing exponentially due to the high demand in electronic consumer products. As so, researchers have found a way to meet that demand by fabricating graphene. As developments are made toward the future, two big advancements to be made are large-scale fabrication of graphene and fabricating graphene as a flexible electrode. This would allow for use in larger products and for manipulation of the unique properties of graphene to accommodate superior design alternatives. While large scale production is still mentioned, this review is specifically focusing on different methods used to fabricate graphene as a flexible...

    Abstract
In this paper, we have studied the properties of SrTiO3 thin films which have been deposited on Si/Ti/Pt substrates using pulsed laser deposition technique. The as-deposited films were annealed at temperature of 700 °C in oxygen environment for 1 h. The surface morphology, crystalline phase and chemical composition of the films were characterized by AFM, XRD and XPS techniques, respectively. The XRD data show that phase transition from amorphous to polycrystalline structure happens and also the lattice constant enhances during annealing process. This enhancement can be related to oxygen vacancies in thin films. The XPS data show partial lack of titanium atoms on the surface. The AFM analysis...

    Abstract
In recent years carbon nanotubes and other carbon nanostructures such as graphene sheets have attracted a lot of attention due to their unique mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. These structures can be used in desalination of sea water, removal of hazardous substances from water tanks, gases separation, and so on. The nanoporous single layer graphene membranes are very efficient for desalinating water due to their very low thickness. In this method, water-flow thorough the membrane and salt rejection strongly depend on the applied pressure and size of nanopores that are created in graphene membrane. In this study, the mechanism of passing water and salt ions through nanoporous...

Hydrogen-rich water for green reduction of graphene oxide suspensions

    , Article International Journal of Hydrogen Energy ; Volume 40, Issue 16 , 2015 , Pages 5553-5560 ; 03603199 (ISSN) Akhavan, O ; Azimirad, R ; Gholizadeh, H. T ; Ghorbani, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2015
    Abstract
Abstract H2-rich water as a green antioxidant was applied for deoxygenation of graphene oxide (GO) suspensions. The ability of H2-rich water for deoxygenation of GO sheets was found comparable to the ability of hydrazine (as a standard and powerful reductant), using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In fact, the O/C ratio of GO sheets could be reduced from 0.51 to 0.21 and 0.16 by H2-rich water and hydrazine, respectively. More importantly, while C-N bond formation is one of the side effects of GO reduction by hydrazine, no chemical C-N bond was found on the H2-water-reduced GO (rGO) sheets. This also resulted in a better restoration of the graphitic structure of the H2-water-rGO, as...
