    Abstract
This paper focuses on expansion co-planning studies of natural gas and electricity distribution systems. The aim is to develop a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model for such problems to guarantee the finite convergence to optimality. To this end, at first the interconnection of electricity and natural gas networks at demand nodes is modelled by the concept of energy hub (EH). Then, mathematical model of expansion studies associated with the natural gas, electricity and EHs are extracted. The optimization models of these three expansion studies incorporate investment and operation costs. Based on these separate planning problems, which are all in the form of mixed-integer nonlinear...

A model for stochastic planning of distribution network and autonomous DG units

    Abstract
This article presents a mixed-integer linear stochastic model for the optimal expansion planning of electricity distribution networks and distributed generation (DG) units. In the proposed framework, autonomous DG units are aggregated and modeled using the well-known energy hub concept. In this model, the uncertainties of heat and electricity demand as well as renewable generation are represented using various scenarios. Although this is a standard technique to capture the uncertainties, it drastically increases the dimensions of this optimization problem and makes it practically intractable. In order to address this issue, a novel iterative method is developed in this article to enhance the...

Electricity Distribution System Planning Considering Incentive Reliability Regulations

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Jooshaki, Mohammad (Author) ; Abbaspour Tehranifard, Ali (Supervisor) ; Lehtonen, Matti (Co-Supervisor) ; Fotuhi Firuzabad, Mahmoud (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Electricity distribution systems are dynamically expanded in anticipation of new demands. Cost and reliability are the most important factors in finding the optimal plans for network expansion. Recently, implementation of incentive reliability regulations has accentuated the role of reliability considerations in distribution systems studies. This is because such incentive schemes create a direct link between distribution companies' revenues and their service reliability. Thus, these schemes have changed the role of reliability from a technical constraint to an economic factor. In this occasion, distribution companies require new techniques to incorporate the effects of incentive reliability...

The Impact of Penetration of Electric Vehicles on Distribution System Planning

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseini, Mir Mahdi (Author) ; Ehsan, Mahdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The usage of plugin hybrid electric vehicles has environmental benefits. However, the penetration of these components raises important concerns for grid planning. Thus, it is necessary to model the load change due to their charge to investigate the impact of these vehicles on distribution networks. For this reason, it is necessary to determine the specifications of these vehicles, such as battery charge and energy consumption on daily trips. In addition, the study of some behavioral patterns of these vehicles and some experts are necessary to complete the model. In this thesis, an active distribution network is planned using dynamic programming formulation. In this model, some buses are added...

Energy Management in Smart Manufacturing Based on AI Methods

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Moshiri, Abdollah (Author) ; Hemmatyar, Ali Mohammad Afshin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Focusing on developing the EEPS (Energy Electric and Power System) based on the SG (Smart Grid) infrastructure to achieve implementation of EI (Energy Internet) ultimately, in order to analyze and manage the energy/power consumption, requires a robust embedded EMS (Energy Management System) to implement real-time LF (Load Forecasting), prevent the power waste and realize consumption management which eventually leads toward the smart industries/buildings. STLF (Short Term Load Forecasting) is an essential component that an industrial plant requires to manage the power, regarding the load fluctuations during production, and compulsory requirement of cost mitigation. This thesis, in order to...
