, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kamali, Ali (Author) ; Shamloo, Amir (Supervisor) ; Asghari, Mohsen (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Wound healing by engineered scaffolds is a new step in bio-technology and medical studies in recent years. The goal of the current study is to propose a novel structure for a tissue-engineered scaffold to be used in wound healing. Influenced from the multi-layered structure of natural human skin, the fabricated scaffold consists of two layers to maximize similarity with natural skin. This product is comprised of an electrospun layer made of polycaprolactone and polyvinyl alcohol and a hydrogel layer made of chitosan and gelatin. In order to form a porous medium in the hydrogel layer, freeze-gelation was used instead of freeze drying. The evaluation of fabricated scaffolds was performed by...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Najafi Mobara, Mahdieh (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Porosity and high surface area is a profound concept for creating advance materials. Nanofibers are an important class of nanomaterials with high surface to volume ratio as a result of long lengths and nano-to-micro-scale diameters. Electrospinning is a simple method for producing nanofibers from different polymers and composites and prepare highly efficient sorbents. Polymeric nanocomposites are claimed to exhibit markedly improved mechanical, magnetic, thermal and electrical properties. Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles have gained great attentions due to their low toxicity, stability and biocompatibility and have been extensively used to induce magnetic property to the desired sorbents....

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Naseri, Amene (Author) ; Moshfegh, Alireza (Supervisor) ; Pourjavadi, Ali (Supervisor) ; Mahmoodi, Niaz Mohammad (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
The aim of conducting this research is to study, fabrication and photocatalytic application of electrospun ZnO-based composite nanofibers. One of the most important challenges is to apply photocatalyst under solar irradiation and improve its activity for pollutant degradation. ZnO is a wide band gap semiconductor, hence, it is not active under the visible light. In Iran, we have at least 300 sunny days in a year. Therefore, fabrication and application of photocatalytic material with activity under the sunlight which contains 47% of visible light is so vital in our country. Since CuO is a visible light active photocatalyst and its interface with ZnO forms a type I heterojunction, this...

Design of Injectable Hydrogel Scaffold based on Smart Polymer in Tissue Engineering

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mozhdehbakhsh Mofrad, Yasaman (Author) ; Shamloo, Amir (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nerve damage is one of the factors affecting the quality of life of patients. The nervous system does not have the ability to repair large injuries, and autologous transplantation, which is the standard treatment method for nerve injuries, is faced with a shortage of donors and a decrease in the function of the donor site. Tissue engineering hydrogels, due to their similarity to the natural tissue of the stomatal body, are a hope for the repair of nerve tissue. In this research, an injectable, minimally invasive and temperature-sensitive hydrogel based on chitosan-etaglycerophosphate-sodium hydrogen carbonate salt or trisodium phosphate salt containing aligned nanofibers made of gelatin and...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mahdavi, Reza (Author) ; Vosoughi, Manoochehr (Supervisor) ; Alizadeh, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the present study we examined the fabrication of electrospun polymer drug delivery system for the production of polymeric film containing Rizatriptan drug. Fabricated films were underwent X-ray diffraction and DSC tests to ensure that the drug is not in crystalline and amorphous form. And the results revealed the fact that the drug is fully dispersed in the polymer. pH changes in the aqueous phase is too low so that it enable the polymeric film to be suitable for use in oral administration. In-vitro assay for different combination of sublingual polymeric suggested that Rizatriptan film with 3% weight by volume and 30% by weight by volume of electrospun polymer PVP is the best combination...

Three-Dimensional Polyamide Nanofibrous Scaffolds for Needle Trap Microextraction of Chlorobenzenes from Water Samples and Comparing them with Two-Dimensional Nanofibres

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Manshaei, Faranak (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the past decades, electrospinning has been widely used for the production of micro/nanofibers. In spite of the simplicity and effectivity of the conventional electrospinning for fabricating nanofibers, compact structure and small pores of the nanofibers hinder the efficient penetration of analytes during the extraction process. In order to overcome this issue, an applicable strategy called wet electrospinnig has been employed to enlarge the pore size of the electrospun scaffolds. By applying this technique, a collector was placed at the bottom of a solvent bath and highly porous foam from polyamide nanofibers was produced immediately after freeze-drying (3D electrospinning)....

Fabrication of a Collagen-Based Scaffold for Corneal Regeneration

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Alizadeh, Maryam (Author) ; Abdekhodaie, Mohammad Jafar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Corneal diseases are one of the most common causes of blindness worldwide. The most common way to treat these diseases is to replace the damaged cornea with the donor cornea by corneal transplant. But limitations such as donor tissue deficiency, the risk of disease transmission and transplant rejection have made treatment of these diseases very difficult. A cornea made by tissue engineering can be used as a suitable alternative because of the limitations mentioned for corneal transplantation with donated tissue. At the same time, similarity of the scaffold to normal corneal tissue, both in terms of matrial and structural properties, is essential for proper repair of this scaffold by cells...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Taheri, Navid (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A method for determination of estrogens in biological samples was developed. This method was based on high performance liquid chromatography using online micro-solid phase extraction with 25 mg sorbent synthesized by electrospining of silica/PVA nanofibers. Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) is an easily electrospun polymer with unique properties such as biocompatibility, processability, and hydrophilicity. Silica is biocompatible, thermally stable, and comparatively inert. Incorporation of silica with PVA produces hybrids with enhanced thermal and chemical stability in sample media and elution solvents without relinquishing the biocompatibility of PVA. The sufficient numbers of disc sheets were cut...
