    The authors studied the efficiency and accuracy of neural network model for prediction of permeability as a key parameter in reservoir characterization. So, some multilayer perceptron (MLP) neural network models with different learning algorithms of Levenberg-Margnardt, back propagation, improved back propagation (IBP), and quick propagation with three layers and different node numbers (3, 4, 5, 6, 7) in the middle layer have been presented. These models have been obtained by 630 permeability data from one of offshore reservoirs located in Saudi Arabia.     In this research nano γ-Al 2O 3 catalyst was synthesized through precipitation process then characterized and utilized for methanol dehydration reaction in a slurry batch reactor in route to the indirect synthesis of the dimethyl ether (DME). In this venue, effects of the key parameters on methanol conversion and catalyst stability were investigated. Moreover, the internal and external mass transfer resistances were eliminated; hence the intrinsic kinetics controlled the reaction.     Low silicon content SAPO-34 was successfully synthesized using the conventional hydrothermal crystallization in the static condition. Effects of different synthesis conditions including crystallization temperature and the silicon source were investigated through X-ray diffraction patterns. It was concluded that the silicon source had a significant effect on silicon incorporation into the alumino-phosphate building blocks in the course of crystallization.     Urmia Lake, located in a closed basin in north-west Iran, is the largest lake (5000-6000 km2) in the Middle East. It is very saline with total dissolved salts reaching 200 g/l compared with a normal seawater salinity of about 35 g/l. The construction of a causeway, which was initiated in 1979 but then abandoned until the early 2000s, is near completion and will provide road access between the western and eastern provinces.
