    Abstract
The ability to accurately classify temporal relation between events is an important task for a large number of natural language processing applications such as Question Answering (QA), Summarization, and Information Extraction. This paper presents a weakly-supervised machine learning approach for classification of temporal relation between events. In the first stage, the algorithm learns a general classifier from an annotated corpus. Then, it applies the hypothesis of "one type of temporal relation per discourse" and expands the scope of "discourse" from a single document to a cluster of topically-related documents. By combining the global information of such a cluster with local decisions...

A robust short-circuit fault diagnosis for high voltage DC power supply based on multisensor data fusion

    Abstract
Short-circuit fault (SCF) detection is mandatory in a high voltage DC power supply (HVPS) to prevent fatal damage. The majority of converters employ a single sensor to detect the SCF. This attribute increases the interference vulnerability of the fault detection (FD) system in the presence of noise. Therefore, miss detections and false alarms are possible to occur. Miss detections and false alarms are harmful catastrophes in most applications. A commonly used method to suppress the noise impacts is using a low-bandwidth low-pass filter. However, the use of the low-bandwidth low-pass filter reduces the speed of FD due to the filter delay. This paper proposes a fast FD algorithm based on...

    Abstract
How does society work? How do groups emerge within society? What are the effects of emotions and memory on our everyday actions? George Homans, like us, had a perspective on what society is, except that he was a sociologist. Homans theory, which is an exchange theory, is based on a few propositions about the fundamental actions of individuals, and how values, memory, and expectations affect their behavior. In this paper, as Homans predicted, our main interest and purpose are to find out whether these propositions lead to the emergence of groups. To do so, computationally, Based on Homans’ prepositions, we provide the opportunity for each agent to exchange with other agents. That is, each...
