    , Article Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society ; Vol. 35, issue. 5 , May , 2014 , pp. 1375-1378 ; ISSN: 02532964 Soleyman, R ; Pourjavadi, A ; Masoud, N ; Varamesh, A ; Sattari, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this study, maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) nanoparticles were produced using gelatin protein as an effective mediator. Size, shape, surface morphology and magnetic properties of the prepared γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were characterized using XRD, FT-IR, TEM, SEM and VSM data. The effects of furnace temperature and time of heating together with the amount of gelatin on the produced gelatin-Fe3O4 nanocomposite were examined to prove the fundamental effect of gelatin; both as a capping agent in the nanoscale synthesis and as the director of the spinel γ-Fe2O3 synthesis among possible Fe 2O3 crystalline structures

    Abstract
In this research, FINEMET alloy with composition of Fe73.5Si13.5B9Nb3Cu1 was produced by mechanical alloying from elemental powders. The effect of milling time on the magnetic and structural properties of alloy has been investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometery. The results showed that milling for 53 hr leads to the formation of Fe supersaturated solid solution which includes Si, B and Nb atoms with mean crystallite size of ~30 nm. The shift of the main peak of Fe to the higher angles indicated that Si and B atoms dissolve in the Fe solid solution, at primary stage of mechanical alloying, up to the...

    Abstract
The effect of pressure has been studied on structural and electronic properties of LaOFeAs high-T c superconductor by ab initio density functional theory by using pseudopotential Quantum Espresso code. The lattice parameters and ionic positions in the ambient pressure and some high pressure up to 20 GPa have been calculated. The obtained data versus the simple scaling relation for the ionic positions and distances for mechanical pressures have been discussed. The results of band structure and magnetic moment calculations of this compound versus the applied pressure are presented in this paper. The results are compared with the other experimental and computational data in the literature

    2013
    Abstract
In this study, the kinetics of nanocrystallization of amorphous Fe 73.5Si13.5B9Nb3Cu1 (F1) and Fe77Si11B9Nb2.4Cu0.6 (F2) alloys is investigated. The microstructure and magnetic properties of the nanocrystalline alloys are compared. The crystallization temperature of F2 alloy is shifted towards lower temperatures with respect to F1. Thus, the crystalline volume fraction and the crystalline grain size at specific annealing temperature for the F2 alloy are higher than for the F1 alloy, accounting for the higher coercive force of F2 alloy with respect to the one of F1 alloy. According to isoconversional methods, the activation energy for crystallization is variable as a function of transformed...

    Abstract
In order to provide sufficient heat without overheating healthy tissue in magnetic fluid hyperthermia (MFH), a careful design of the magnetic properties of nanoparticles is essential. We perform a systematic calculation of magnetic properties of Ni-alloy nanoparticles. Stoner-Wohlfarth model based theories (SWMBTs) are considered and the linear response theory (LRT) is used to extract the hysteresis loop of nickel alloy nanoparticles in alternating magnetic fields. It is demonstrated that in the safe range of magnetic field intensity and frequency the LRT cannot be used for the calculation of the area in the hysteresis for magnetic fields relevant for hyperthermia. The best composition and...

    Abstract
Density functional theory is used in a spin-polarized plane wave pseudopotential implementation to investigate molecular oxygen adsorption and dissociation on graphite and nickel-doped graphite surfaces. Molecular oxygen physisorbs on graphite surface retaining its magnetic property. The calculated adsorption energy is consistent with the experimental value of 0.1eV. It is found that substituting a carbon atom of the graphite surface by a single doping nickel atom (2.8% content) makes the surface active for oxygen chemisorption. It is found that the molecular oxygen never adsorbs on doping nickel atom while it adsorbs and dissociates spontaneously into atomic oxygens on the carbon atoms...

    Abstract
The influence of milling and subsequent annealing on nickel-ferrite phase formation was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Microstructure and magnetic properties of NiFe 2O 4 were determined by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and vibration sample magnetometry (VSM). Single phase nanosized nickel-ferrite was obtained by 30 h mechanical alloying (MA) and subsequent annealing at 600 °C for 1 h. Magnetic properties of the milled powder were extensively affected by the annealing temperature. Considerable growth of the particles and necking by sintering resulted from annealing at 1000 °C
