Pre-reduction of Manganese Ore by Natural Gas for Ferromanganese Production

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Cheraghi, Alireza (Author) ; Yoozbashizadeh, Hossein (Supervisor) ; Safarian, Jafar (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Pre-reduction of some manganese sources (low-grade Venrach and Godar-Sabz ores, high-grade Comilog ore, pellet, pure oxide) by methane gas has been investigated in this research. HSC-Chemistry and FactSage software were used for thermodynamic study of the process. Thermodynamic results indicated that methane may progress to manganese carbide formation, and the reduction process can run autonomously involving less carbon dioxide emission comparing to common ferromanganese process. Several techniques including XRF, XRD, in-situ XRD, SEM-EDS, and thermogravimetry were used in sample characterization and experiments. In addition to the thermal decomposition reactions which were affected by...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shakeriyan, Mojtaba (Author) ; Halali, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Hakim, Manuchehr (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study designing and manufacturing of high-temperature fluidized bed reactor were performed. These reactors are based on the contact of fluid with solid particles and balancing the weight of the solid materials. The most important parameters in the reduction rate are: bed temperature and reduction gas concentration. Materials were injected into the reactor under the pressure of 1.13 mmHg and temperature of 787 ℃ in the bed depth of 4 cm for 2 hours and then the product was removed. XRD patterns showed that the dominant phase in the product...

Designing and Improving Manganese Oxide Nanoparticles as a MRI Contrast Agent

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Omid, Hamed (Author) ; Maddah Hosseini, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, manganese oxide nanoparticles with about 5 nm size were synthesized via solvothermal to maximize surface and active sites for proton relaxation. Electrosteric mechanisim was employed for colloidal stability. This mechanisim doesn’t need high surface charge and thick coat which are vital for particles functionality. Then by cell culture eliminating and adding protamine sulfade, nanoparticles uptake were increased tremendously. In this thesis for first time Prussian blue was utilized for staining...

    , Article International Journal of Engineering, Transactions B: Applications ; Volume 21, Issue 1 , 2008 , Pages 65-70 ; 1728-144X (ISSN) Vaezi, M. R ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Two-stage chemical deposition (TSCD) technique is used to produce ZnO, Mn2O3 and NiO films on soda-lime glass (SL-G) from an aqueous solution of zinc, manganese and nickel complex, respectively. The TSCD method enables the deposition of metal oxide thin films with a thickness which can be controlled during the preparation procedure. The ZnO, Mn 2O3 and NiO thin films were polycrystalline films which were adherent well to the substrates. The SEM micrographs clearly indicate that the zinc oxide layer is composed of oval shaped crystallites preferably orientated perpendicular to the surface of the substrate. The Mn 2O3 and NiO layers were closely packed on the substrate. These particles seem to...

The microstructural analysis, carried out by FE-SEM and TEM, confirmed the homogeneous distribution of MnO2 nanoparticles on g-C3N4 nano-sheet layers. The electrochemical capacitive performances of the MnO2/g-C3N4 electrodes were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge/discharge tests, and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS). The obtained results suggested that the supercapacitor (SC) performance of all...

    Abstract
In this work, a nanocomposite containing manganese dioxide (MnO2) modified reduced graphene oxide (rGO) supported bimetallic palladium-nickel (Pd-Ni) catalyst is prepared by electrodeposition method. The nanocomposite modifier film is prepared by forming a thin layer of graphene oxide (GO) via drop-casting of GO nanosheet dispersion on glassy carbon electrode (GCE), followed by electrochemical reduction of the film to provide rGO/GCE. Then, a two-step potential procedure is applied to deposit MnO2 nanoparticles on rGO/GCE. At the optimum deposition conditions, MnO2 nanoparticles with a thickness of 30-50 nm homogeneously covered the rGO surface (MnO2/rGO/GCE). Finally, the bimetallic Pd-Ni...

Methods The synthesized NPs were investigated for physicochemical and biological properties by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope, dynamic light scattering (DLS), inductively coupled plasma, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and 3 T magnetic resonance...
