    Investigation of asphaltene adsorption in sandstone core sample during CO2 injection: Experimental and modified modeling

    In this work, asphaltene adsorption in a sandstone core sample under dynamic conditions and during miscible CO2 injection was studied using live oil sample which is close to real conditions in petroleum reservoirs. In order to investigate of damage in sandstone core sample by the deposited material such as asphaltene, the morphology analysis of sandstone core sample using scanning electron microscopic method was studied. Also analyses of the adsorbed material in sandstone core sample by Soxhlet extraction using an azeotrope mixture and with SARA method were performed.     Pulsed laser irradiation for environment friendly reduction of graphene oxide suspensions

    Graphene oxide (GO) sheets were synthesized through a modified Hummers' method. Using high resolution transmission electron microscopy the thickness of the GO sheets in a multilayer structure of stacked GO sheets was found ∼0.8 nm. A nanosecond pulsed laser (with wavelength of 532 nm and average power of 0.3 W) was applied for effective and environment friendly reduction of the GO sheets in an ammonia solution (pH ∼9) at room temperature conditions.     Particulate back-reflector films are conventionally used for the improvement of light harvesting in dye solar cells (DSC). The back-reflection of the films is directly related to the scattering efficiency of the individual particles. Inspired by the idea of multilayer optical thin films, here it is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally that putting a SiO2 shell around spherical rutile-TiO2 particles leads to improved light scattering by the particles.     Propane dehydrogenation was carried over a commercial Pt-Sn/γ-Al 2O3 catalyst at atmospheric pressure and reaction temperatures of 580, 600, and 620°C and WHSV of 11 h-1 in an experimental tubular quartz reactor. Propane conversions were measured for catalyst time on stream of up to nine days. The amounts of coke deposited on the catalyst were measured after one, three, six, and nine days on stream using a thermogravimetric differential thermal analyzer (TG-DTA) for each reaction temperature.     Pressure transient analysis in vertically heterogeneous reservoirs is examined. The inclusion of a separate model for the free fluid flow in the wellbore is essential to allow for hydraulic communication and mixing of the fluid issuing from different reservoir layers. A two-dimensional model coupling Darcy flow in the reservoir with Navier-Stokes flow in the wellbore is developed and solved by the finite element technique.     In this work, the goal is to find the optimum working point for intelligent wells that is equipped with down-hole chokes and producing from a multi-layer reservoir under pressure maintenance process. Two evolutionary optimization algorithms are used and results are compared from different points of view. Therefore, the differential evolution technique and genetic algorithm has been used in conjugation with a reservoir simulator. The overall optimization technique is applied to heterogeneous example problems involving smart and multi segment wells.     Tubular ceramic membranes were synthesized by depositing a dense layer of silica-alumina on top of a multilayer substrate using co-current chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The multilayer substrate was prepared by coating with a series of bohemite sols with certain particle sizes. Cross-sectional and surface images obtained from high resolution FESEM showed that the intermediate layer had a thickness of about 1μm and the top selective layer was uniform and dense with a thickness of less than 100nm.     A hydrogen-selective nano-composite ceramic membrane was prepared by depositing a dense layer composed of SiO2 and Al2O 3 on top of a graded multilayer substrate using co-current chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The multilayer substrate was made by dip-coating a macroporous α-alumina tubular support by a series of boehmite solutions to get a graded structure.     Abstract
    We demonstrate high-quality integrated inductors built from a multilayer of alternating copper and ferromagnetic films. The multilayer acts as a meta-conductor whose effective permeability becomes nearly zero at its ferromagnetic anti-resonance frequency. This leads to a suppression of the skin effect and a significant increase in the quality factor of the device. Experiments show an up to 86% increase in quality factor compared to conventional copper-based spiral inductors at high frequencies

    A multilayer back propagation learning algorithm was used as an artificial neural network tool to predict the mechanical properties of porous NiTi shape memory alloys fabricated by press/sintering of the mixed powders. Effects of green porosity, sintering time and the ratio of the average Ti to Ni particle sizes on properties of the product were investigated. Hardness and tensile strength of the compacts were determined by hardness Rockwell B method and shear punch test.     Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were synthesized in aqueous solutions containing FeCl2, FeCl3, FeSO4 and Fe2(SO4) 3. The effects of iron charge and the counter ions on the formation of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were investigated. Thermogravimetric (TG) analysis indicated that carbon multilayer structures including CNTs and multishell graphite particles were formed in deionized (DI) water without the iron precursor.
