Abstract
Although Multi-Walled Carbon NanoTubes (MWCNTs) are found to influence the rheological behavior of drilling fluids, there are yet some controversies regarding their performance towards reducing formation damage induced by the invasion of water-based drilling fluids (WBFs). To address this important question, we synthesized novel nanocomposite materials via modifying the MWCNT via varying the proportion of carboxylated MWCNTs to PolyVinyl Alcohol (PVA). These nanocomposites were then used to make nano-based drilling-fluids (NDFs). The performance of the NDFs was evaluated by a set of rheological behavior tests, filtration experiments, and core-scale mud flow tests. To distinguish between the...

Abstract
Recently, composite materials with outstanding absorption properties, like extraordinary absorbing capability, light weight, and thin in size, are required to solve the challenges of electromagnetic pollution. In addition, most of the work is based on the optimization of absorber material structure, and microstructure. In the current work, we improved the reflection loss feature of Bi0.5Nd0.5FeO3 nanopowders via decoration with polyindole polymer by tuning the filler loading of the nanocomposite in the matrix. XRD, UV–Vis, XPS, and FESEM were used to determine the physicochemical features of the as-prepared nanocomposite. The minimum RL was lowered further with the increasing filler loading...

Abstract
In this study, ultra-fine grained Cu and Cu + carbon nanotube (CNT) nanocomposites were prepared through a processes combining flake powder metallurgy, hot pressing, and high-pressure torsion (HPT). The effects of grain refinement and CNT reinforcement on the microstructure, hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion behavior of the newly developed nanocomposites were investigated. The results indicated that the HPT process decreased the grain size of Cu and Cu + CNT by 67.7% and 68.1%, respectively, and increased their microhardness by 151% and 132%. The addition of CNTs substantially improved the tribological behavior of Cu by generating a mechanically mixed carbon- and oxide-rich layer....

Abstract
In recent years, key questions about the interaction of 2D MXene nanomaterials in electrochemical and biomedical applications have been raised. Most research has focused on clarifying the exclusive properties of the materials; however, only limited reports have described the biomedical applications of 2D nanomaterials. 2D MXenes are monolayer atomic nanosheets resulting from MAX phase ceramics. The hydrophilic properties, metallic conductivity, stability, and exclusive physiochemical performances make them promising materials for electrochemical and biomedical applications, including CO2 reduction, H2 evolution, energy conversion and storage, supercapacitors, stimuli-responsive drug delivery...

Abstract
The nanocomposite Cu–Cr powder was consolidated by flash spark plasma sintering (FSPS), which involves applying an extremely rapid change in the electrical power passing through the bulk of the sample. It was demonstrated that an essentially fully dense material could be obtained in 15 s. Such short-term treatment typically preserves the nanostructured features of the material. However, investigation revealed a nonuniformity in the microstructure of the alloys obtained under such extreme conditions. To better understand the observed effects, the FSPS process was simulated. It was observed that a rapid change in the applied electrical power resulted in nonuniform distributions of current...

Abstract
Chitosan is a natural polymer with acceptable biocompatibility, biodegradability, and mechanical stability; hence, it has been widely appraised for drug and gene delivery applications. However, there has been no comprehensive assessment to tailor-make chitosan cross-linkers of various types and functionalities as well as complex chitosan-based semi- and full-interpenetrating networks for drug delivery systems (DDSs). Herein, various fabrication methods developed for chitosan hydrogels are deliberated, including chitosan crosslinking with and without diverse cross-linkers. Tripolyphosphate, genipin and multi-functional aldehydes, carboxylic acids, and epoxides are common cross-linkers used in...

Abstract
Recently, decellularized amniotic membrane-derived hydrogels (DAMHs) have received significant attention for wound care, ocular surface reconstruction, and chondral healing. Despite the advantages of DAMHs for tissue engineering (TE), the loss of structural components during the decellularization process mitigates their mechanical strength and thus limits their practical application. Herein, we present a method for the surface modification of two-dimensional nanosilicates (laponite) as a rheological modifier to tailor the properties of DAMHs. Results show that after introducing nanosilicates, severe aggregation of the nanoparticles occurs, owing to the shielding effect of ions on the surface...

Abstract
It's still a significant difficulty to find microwave absorbers that have outstanding microwave dissipation performance in hostile environments. Herein, the core–shell structure of polyindole-PANI co-polymer@BiFeO3 nanocomposite is successfully prepared via in-situ polymerization method. The introduction of a co-polymer shell on the surface of magnetic BiFeO3 nanoparticles considerably tuned the attenuation constant and impedance matching characteristics. The electromagnetic characteristics and microwave absorption feature of the polyindole-PANI co-polymer@BiFeO3 nanocomposites may be found to be influenced by filler loading content regulation. The sample containing 40 wt% of polyindole-PANI...

Abstract
Curcumin incorporated polyurethanes (CPU) are gaining much attention as a biomaterial. However, challenges are still remained due to hydrophobicity and low mechanical strength of CPU. Herein, we synthesized the CPU/ZnO nanocomposites with good mechanical and improved hydrophilic properties via in-situ polymerization. A series of curcumin incorporated polyurethane with different concentrations of ZnO nanoparticles (ZnCPU) are synthesized by using the curcumin, polyethylene glycol (PEG) as the soft segment, hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) as the hard segment, and 1,4-butanediol (BDO) as the chain extender. The addition of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) facilitated the soft domain of PU which is...

The principal purpose of this paper is to select the models with the maximum accuracy for the prediction of microhardness of CHA/ZrO2 nanocomposite. For this purpose, three models, including gene expression programming (GEP), gray wolf optimization algorithm (GWOA), and least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM), were implemented to predict and optimize the microhardness of the CHA/ZrO2 nanocomposite. Finally, the results showed that the data obtained from the LS-SVM model were closer to the preliminary data than the others. According to the results, the LS-SVM could...

Abstract
Exploring bi-functional electrocatalysts with excellent activity, good durability, and cost-effectiveness for electrochemical hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER) in the same electrolyte is a critical step towards a sustainable hydrogen economy. In this context, understanding structure–composition–property relationships and catalyst activity is very important and highly desirable. Herein, for the first time, we present the design and fabrication of novel MOF-derived ultra-small Ru/RuO2 nanoparticles...

Abstract
The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) with its sluggish kinetics has imposed a significant barrier to the sustainable and green generation of hydrogen fuel (via electrolysis of water) and the development of metal-air batteries. In this study, we report an efficient and novel OER electrocatalyst based on NiSe2nanoparticles (NPs) and the naturally abundant halloysite clay mineral. The NiSe2/halloysite nanocomposite (NiSe2/H) was prepared by a simple one-step hydrothermal route. The electrocatalytic performance of the as-synthesized nanocomposite and its components (pristine NiSe2and halloysite) toward OER in 1.0 KOH solution was examined. The NiSe2/H nanocomposite exhibited a significantly...
