    Abstract
Multiphase flow meters (MPFMs) are utilized to provide quick and accurate well test data in numerous numbers of oil production applications like those in remote or unmanned locations topside exploitations that minimize platform space and subsea applications. Flow rates of phases (oil, gas and water) are most important parameter which is detected by MPFMs. Conventional MPFM data collecting is done in long periods; because of radioactive sources usage as detector and unmanned location due to wells far distance. In this paper, based on a real case of MPFM, a new method for oil rate prediction of wells base on Fuzzy logic, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Imperialist Competitive Algorithm is...

Permeability impairment study due to asphaltene deposition: experimental and modeling approach

    , Article Transport in Porous Media ; Volume 91, Issue 3 , February , 2012 , Pages 999-1012 ; 01693913 (ISSN) Bolouri, S. H ; Ghoodjani, E ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This fact is well known that during any scenario of production, asphaltene deposition in porous media has a substantial effect on oil flow. But a clear understanding of asphaltene deposition mechanisms can help to minimize asphaltenic problem in oil-bearing formations. In this study, the experimental results of three dynamic CO 2 miscible injection tests were investigated. Regarding the effects of adsorption, mechanical entrapment, and sweeping mechanisms on permeability behavior, a mathematical mass and permeability variation model were developed. According to the experimental results asphaltene deposition causes a 70% loss of sand stone initial permeability while the loss is significantly...

Theoretical modeling of reinfiltration process in naturally fractured reservoirs: A comparative study on traveling liquid bridges and continuum film flow approaches

    , Article Society of Petroleum Engineers - SPE/EAGE Reservoir Characterization and Simulation Conference 2009 - Overcoming Modeling Challenges to Optimize Recovery, 19 October 2009 through 21 October 2009, Abu Dhabi ; Volume 1 , 2009 , Pages 247-269 ; 9781615677443 (ISBN) Dejam, M ; Ghazanfari, M. H ; Masihi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Most of the Iranian oil reservoirs are naturally fractured. Reinfiltration is a key proceess which controls oil flow from the upper to the lower matrix block. However, theoretical modeling of fracture aperture as well as fracture dip angle effects on flow rate of drained oil during reinfilteration process remains a topic of debate in the literature. Moreover, there is no reported experience in the literature that compared the oil velocity predicted by traveling oil bridges and continuum film flow approaches. In this work reinfiltration process is modeled through two different approaches: discrete traveling liquid elements and continuum film flow along inclined fractures. For a case study...

Effect of vortex generators on hydrodynamic behavior of an underwater axisymmetric hull at high angles of attack

    Abstract
Abstract: Underwater vehicles when yawed to free stream flow, like submarines in a turning maneuver, produce large vortical separated regions. This vortical flow affects acoustic, body drag, control effectiveness and maneuverability. A suitable way to reduce the effects of this separated flow is to use vortex generators. The main goal of this study is to investigate the effect of the vortex generator on the flow field around a standard underwater model employing the vortex generators by using the oil flow visualization method in wind tunnel only in yaw direction (0° ≤ β ≤ 30° angles of attack, due to the experimental cost) and the CFD method in the pitch direction (0° ≤ α ≤ 30° angles of...
