Conflict Resolution of water resources Allocation Using Game Theory under Climate Change Impact (Case Study: Zarinehrood basin)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hemati, Hasti (Author) ; Abrishamchi, Ahmad (Supervisor) ; Tajrishi, Masoud (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Increasing water consumption via competitive demands has resulted in serious water conflicts and the subsequent environmental crisis in river basins. The combined effects of climate change on river flow and growing water demand due to population growth, industrial and agricultural developments cause an increase of water scarcity in many basins. This is one of the drivers of both noncompliance with water allocation agreements and conflicts over the property rights to river water. Conflicts often arise when different water users compete for a limited water supply. Thus an integrated, sustainable, efficient and fair water allocation considering changes in water resources due to climate change...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Farzin, Nima (Author) ; Vakilian, Mehdi (Supervisor) ; Hajipour, Ehsan (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Power transformer is one of the most important equipment in the power system which plays a key role in the reliability and quality of power delivery. Among numerous failure modes of a typical power transformer, the turn-to-turn fault (TTF) is one of the most prominent reasons for its unplanned outage. A turn-to-turn fault quite often begins with the degradation of the winding insulation between two adjacent turns, then in a short time, this low-level fault can progress to a large number of turns and results in the transformer costly damages. Therefore, it is vital to detect TTF at an early stage and prevent its progression to a catastrophic disaster. The conventional percentage differential...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Kazari, Hessam (Author) ; Oraee, Hashem (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this dissertation, two parts of research has been conducted. First, with the aim of minizing the fluctuations of power output of wind farms and the need for energy storage system, optimization of wind farm (WF) layout has been studied. Deployment of battery energy storage system (BESS) is a viable option to alleviate the inherent power fluctuation of wind farms. In this thesis and based on the power spectrum density (PSD) theorem, it is hown that the WF layout affects not only the total harvested energy but also the level of power fluctuation, which in turn influences required capacity of battery energy storage system (BESS) needed to mitigate the inherent power fluctuation of the wind...

    Abstract
In this research, a site selection method for wind-compressed air energy storage (wind-CAES) power plants was developed and Iran was selected as a case study for modeling. The parameters delineated criteria for potential wind development localities for wind-CAES power plant sites. One important consequence of this research was the identification of the wind energy potential for wind-CAES sites. The theoretical wind energy potential of Iran of greater than 50 W/m2 was identified from a wind atlas of Iran. The model produced factor maps by considering the boundary conditions of the input data and created geo-databases from the outputs maps. The main factor maps were electrical grids and...

    Abstract
Performance degradation remains as one of the primary limitations for practical applications of proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells. The performance of a PEM fuel cell stack is affected by many internal and external factors, such as fuel cell design and assembly, degradation of materials, operational conditions, and impurities or contaminants. Performance degradation is unavoidable, but the degradation rate can be minimized through a comprehensive understanding of degradation and failure mechanisms. In present work, a single PEM fuel cell for stationary applications is investigated. Membrane and catalyst layers (anode and cathode electrodes) are considered as critical components that...

    Abstract
In the present study a comprehensive thermoeconomic modelling of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) for a typical 4MW class gas turbine is performed. Usually, the thermoeconomic analyses involve a thermodynamic model of the HRSG and an economic model dedicated to assess the cost. In this study, different configurations of single and dual pressure level HRSGs are optimized and afterward compared to find the economical design. For these configurations thermodynamic model calculates the performance and the energy balance of systems at the optimal operating conditions which are derived from optimization model, and economic model estimates total cost per unit of produced energy. Finally,...

    Abstract
The exact numerical solution of the nonlinear Ginzburg-Landau equation for Josephson junctions is obtained, from which the precise nontrivial current density and effective potential of the Josephson junctions are found. Based on the resulting potential well, the tunneling probabilities of the associated bound states are computed which are in complete agreement with the reported experimental data. The effects of junction and bias parameters such as thickness of the insulating barrier, cross sectional area, bias current, and magnetic field are fully investigated using a successive perturbation approach. We define and compute figures of merit for achieving optimal operation of phase qubits and...

    Abstract
While researchers have developed several approaches to attain design variable settings that simultaneously optimize multiple-quality characteristics, the multi-response optimization has become a common practice in complicated manufacturing processes. Most of these research works assume independency of responses where their variances are constant over the experimental space. However, there are many manufacturing processes in practice where the quality characteristics under consideration are correlated. In this study, an efficient approach based on principal component analysis and a conventional desirability function is proposed to optimize correlated multiple responses. This approach not only...
