    In this dissertation we discuss various results presented in the literature on single user channels with causal or noncausal side information and multiuser channels with side information such as multiple access channel and broadcast channel. The Series Relay Networks (SRN) with delays, with and without channel state information (CSI) are investigated from an information theoretic point of view. For SRN with unlimited look ahead where the relays can use the whole received block to encode, upper and lower bounds on the capacity are derived which are tight for the degraded case.     Electrocoagulation is an effective, fast, and economic method for treatment of industrial wastewaters. In this study, effects of different parameters including electrolysis time, voltage, and pH on the reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD), lignin, and color in pulp and paper wastewaters were studied. Iron and aluminum were used as anode and cathode electrodes, respectively.     Open-pore titanium scaffolds were fabricated by sintering of compressed mixtures of TiH1.924 and urea. Spherical and irregular shaped space holders were used to investigate the effect of pore shape on cellular behavior. After removal of the space holder, the shape of the spacers was replicated to the pores. Average diameter of the pores was in the range of 300-600 lm. SEM images showed that titanium hydride resulted in higher surface roughness and larger micro porosities than pure titanium.     A triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) electrode sensitive to the adsorption of water molecules has been introduced to create a self-powered humidity sensor. Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets and graphene oxide nanoribbon (GONR) possessing oxygenated functional groups, as well as high dielectric constants, have been proposed as appropriate candidates for this purpose.
