    Hydrocracking is one of the most versatile petroleum refining processes for production of valuable products including gasoline, gas oil, and jet fuel. In this paper, a five-parameter continuous lumping model was used for kinetic modeling of hydrocracking of vacuum gas oil (VGO). The model parameters were estimated from industrial data obtained from a fixed bed reactor operating at an average temperature of 400°C and residence time of 0.3 h.     A high-order compact finite-difference lattice Boltzmann method (CFDLBM) is proposed and applied to accurately compute steady and unsteady incompressible flows. Herein, the spatial derivatives in the lattice Boltzmann equation are discretized by using the fourth-order compact FD scheme, and the temporal term is discretized with the fourth-order Runge-Kutta scheme to provide an accurate and efficient incompressible flow solver. A high-order spectral-type low-pass compact filter is used to stabilize the numerical solution.     We outline a comprehensive numerical procedure for modeling of species transport and surface reaction kinetics in electrokinetically actuated microfluidic devices of rectangular cross section. Our results confirm the findings of previous simplified approaches that a concentration wave is created for sufficiently long microreactors. An analytical solution, developed for the wave propagation speed, shows that, when normalizing with the fluid mean velocity, it becomes a function of three parameters comprising the channel aspect ratio, the relative adsorption capacity, and the kinetic equilibrium constant.     Long-time interaction of dewetting nanodroplets is investigated using a long-wave approximation method. Although three-dimensional (3D) droplets evolution dynamics exhibits qualitative behavior analogous to two-dimensional (2D) dynamics, there is an extensive quantitative difference between them. 3D dynamics is substantially faster than 2D dynamics. This can be related to the larger curvature and, as a consequence, the larger Laplace pressure difference between the droplets in 3D systems.     In this study, the authors present a new criterion which can be used to decompose the coding advantage (CA) of space-frequency block codes (SFBCs). The proposed decomposition separates the CA into two parts, called precoder-CA and channel-CA. The precoder-CA represents the effects of the precoder and the signal constellation, and can be used in the design of the precoder of SFBCs.     The details of the crystal structure of the recently discovered Y 3Ba5Cu8O18+δ (Y358) superconductor have been determined by ab initio density functional theory. Total energy calculation has been performed for three different suggested structures with different oxygen content. The structure with a center of inversion symmetry and the highest oxygen concentration has the lowest total energy. Thus, it is the best choice for the Y358 crystal structure.     In this study friction stir welding of Al-Cu laminated composites were carried out by two different tool geometries. Welding procedure was carried out from both sides of Al and Cu. Analyzing cross section of welds showed that different contact conditions between shoulder and material, offers different material flow behavior which is dependent on the tool geometry. SEM analyses showed that mixing of materials in nugget region is more pronounced in the advancing side.     In this paper, extended composite right/left-handed (E-CRLH) transmission line (TL) metamaterial structures, with two left-handed (backward) and two right-handed (forward) pass bands, are investigated. Also, design procedures in order to design dual- and quad-band E-CRLH-TLs are presented in detail and the parameters of these structures are extracted by clean formulas, while satisfying arbitrary phase shifts at the operating frequencies. Finally, the dispersion and characteristic impedances of these transmission lines are derived and plotted.     Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) is a non-invasive method for investigating the brain white matter structure. It can be used to evaluate fiber bundles in the brain. However, clinical acquisitions are often low resolution. This paper proposes a method for improving the resolution using sparse representation. In this method a non-diffusion weighted image (bO) is utilized to learn the patches and then diffusion weighted images are reconstructed based on the trained dictionary. Our method is compared with bilinear, nearest neighbor and bicubic interpolation methods.
