, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Parchebaf Dowlati, Alireza (Author) ; Taheri Khoramabadi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In epistemology, pragmatic encroachment is a theory of justification that, unlike the purist theories, emphasizes the importance of pragmatic factors in the formation of justified beliefs. This theory determines the amount of justification necessary to obtain a justified belief by considering the pragmatic consequences of a belief. In this way, this theory becomes increasingly important in religious beliefs; because (not) believing in religious beliefs will have many practical results. This thesis examines pragmatic encroachment and its effects on religious beliefs. Firstly, I will describe the theory of pragmatic encroachment and its dimensions as one of the theories of justification. Then...

After reviewing the previously categorized approaches of Muslims encountering evolution mentioned in the literature، this thesis will survey the Qur’anic verses related to the biological creation of man with the “scientific-lexical” method of all possible states. , M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rahemi, Mohammad Hossein (Author) ; Golshani, Mehdi (Supervisor) ; Khosropanah, Abdolhossien (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
If we accept that there is a thing called “religious Science”, then we should accept that, all of its scientific elements should be based on, or be compatible with religion (in its general meaning). So, here is the question: Is there a particular “religious methodology” required for the “religious science”? Does “religious”, as an adjective also applies to methodology of science? Anyway, if we want to generate “religious science” based on religious foundations, we should characterize our position about “methodology of religious science”. Negligence of this important subject would cause a theoretical vacuum in discussions about religious science. In this thesis, after explaining some general...

    Abstract
It is often assumed that there is a confrontation between science and Islam, especially in religious communities. Biological evolution is often one of the constant sources of contention due to its metaphysical implications. Although there are some empirical data showing low acceptance of evolution and understanding its basic principles in Sunni-majority countries, there has been a categorical lack of data about Iran as the most influential Shiite-majority state. Therefore, in order to reach a better understanding of the culture and world-view of Iranians, we implemented two established questionnaires and phone interviews to assess educated Iranians’ attitude toward evolution. We reach an...

To accomplish this task, a preliminary exploratory study was conducted using two social robots as teaching assistants in Islamic religion classes for 42 elementary students. More than 90% of the participants in the study absolutely preferred the robot-assisted...
