    Effective diffusion coefficient is an important parameter which needs to be determined in different fields of study, such as cathode catalyst layers of PEM fuel. For this purpose, a Loschmidt diffusion cell can be used. When a porous medium is placed in Loschmidt apparatus, the effective gas diffusion coefficient (EGDC) of this section must be correlated by diffusion coefficient in absence of a porous medium.     An attempt was made to combine μ-solid phase extraction and headspace single drop microextraction techniques and use their advantages for trace determination of some volatile organic compounds in aqueous samples. After performing the two-step preconcentration approach, the desired analytes were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.     In multi-tower heliostat fields, although heliostats are capable of aiming at different receivers during the day, due to different orientations, neighboring heliostats might affect shading and blocking efficiency of each other reciprocally. In the proposed method of this paper, considering the mentioned effects and based on a group decision-making approach, each heliostat chooses the best receiver thus ensuring the highest possible instantaneous efficiency of the field. As a case study, this method is applied for the optimal design of a multi-tower field.     Abstract
    In this paper, a sparse component analysis algorithm is presented for the case in which the number of sources is less than or equal to the number of sensors, but the channel (mixing matrix) is time-varying. The method is based on a smoothed l0 norm for the sparsity criteria, and takes advantage of the idea that sparsity of the sources is decreased when they are mixed. The method is able to separate synthetic and speech data, which require very weak sparsity restrictions. It can separate up to 50 mixed signals while being adaptive to channel variation and robust against noise. © 2007 IEEE

    In this paper, a fast algorithm for overcomplete sparse decomposition, called SL0, is proposed. The algorithm is essentially a method for obtaining sparse solutions of underdetermined systems of linear equations, and its applications include underdetermined sparse component analysis (SCA), atomic decomposition on overcomplete dictionaries, compressed sensing, and decoding real field codes. Contrary to previous methods, which usually solve this problem by minimizing the ℓ1 norm using linear programming (LP) techniques, our algorithm tries to directly minimize the ℓ0 norm.     In this paper an extension of the sparse decomposition problem is considered and an algorithm for solving it is presented. In this extension, it is known that one of the shifted versions of a signal s (not necessarily the original signal itself) has a sparse representation on an overcomplete dictionary, and we are looking for the sparsest representation among the representations of all the shifted versions of s. The main idea is to find compensating nonlinearities to transform the scatter plot of observations to a parallelogram. It is based on clustering the observation points, and then fitting a line (hyper-plane) onto each cluster.
