    Improving power distribution characteristics of space time block codes (STBCs), namely peak to average power ratio (PAPR), average to minimum power ratio (Ave/min), and probability of transmitting 'zero' by antenna, makes easier their practical implementation.     In this paper, we introduce a technique for improving power distribution characteristics of space time block codes (STBCs) which include peak to average power ratio (PAPR), average to minimum power ratio (Ave/min), and probability of transmitting “zero” by antenna. We consider STBCs in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) and multiple input single output (MISO) systems that achieve full diversity for linear or maximum likelihood (ML) receivers.     In this work, sessile drop and low-bond axisymmetric drop shape analysis methods were coupled to provide some new aspects on stick-slip behavior as well as stick time of a drop on calcite surfaces. Slightly hydrophobic calcite surfaces typified with three irregular roughnesses were used to create irregular surfaces to mimic defects for the water-calcite-air systems. Polishing papers of 200, 600, and 1200 grit and a polishing machine were used to prepare surfaces.     In this paper, the problem of coarse timing synchronization in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is investigated, and two new timing metrics with better performance are presented. The new metrics take advantage of two novel differential normalization functions that are based on the fourth-order statistics and are designed depending on the value of carrier frequency offset (CFO). The proposed timing metrics are theoretically evaluated using two different class separability criteria.
