, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Morshedi, Golnoosh (Author) ; Sadrhosseini, Hani (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A 2D simulation has been carried out to study the effect of magnetic field on heat transfer and pressure drop of nanofluid flowing through a pipe filled with porous medium. The nanofluid flow is modeled as a single-phase flow, and Darcy–Brinkman–Forchheimer equation is employed to model fluid flow in porous media. A constant uniform heat flux was imposed on the walls of the cylinder, and the values of Darcy number, Hartmann number, and volume fraction of the nanoparticles were selected as 0.1, 200, and 0.2, respectively. Effects of parameters such as Reynolds number, the material of the porous medium (conductivity and porosity), and material of nanofluids have been investigated in the...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shafiee, Ali (Author) ; Moosavi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In modern era, standpoints about atrium design have been revolutionized. In modern architecture, atrium not only designed for illuminating purposes but also designed by natural ventilation and passive cooling policies. Numerous parameters are making role in thermal efficiency of Atrium. A couple of these parameters are Atrium shape and openings area. In high rise atria the lower level rooms enjoy the advantage of buoyancy-driven ventilation while the upper level rooms suffer from its lack or weak presence. One strategy to solve this problem is designing building with various opening area in different heights but manipulating the opening size is restricted by some facts. Excessive Opening’s...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Akrami, Hamid Reza (Author) ; Nouri Borujerdi, Ali (Supervisor) ; Kazemzadeh Hannani, Siamak (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Fully developed fluid flow and heat transfer is numerically investigated in micro-channels. There are many techniques to intensify heat transfer for internal flows, such as: increasing Reynolds number, extending surface area of channel wall and also disrupting the boundary layer thickness on the wall. Among these, extension wall surface area is a common technique. There are several ways to extend surface area including finned, slotted, chemically etched, grooved as well as porous media adhered wall surface. One other method that we work on it is modifying wall cross-section and usage of uniform suction porous media. The governing equations include the momentum equation of the core region...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azimi, Adel (Author) ; Nouri, Ali (Supervisor) ; Moosavi, Ali (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Laminar forced convection flow through a channel partially filled with a porous material was numerically studied in this thesis. The Navier-Stokes and Brinkman-Forchheimer equations were used to model the fluid flow in the free and porous regions, respectively. Coupling of the pressure and velocity fields was resolved using the SIMPLEC algorithm. The local thermal equilibrium was adopted in the energy equation. The effects of the thermal conductivity ratio, Darcy number, porosity, Reynolds number and height of the porous insert on velocity and temperature field were investigated. The results show that the flow behavior and its associated heat transfer are susceptible to the variation of the...

Numerical Investigation of Non-Fourier Heat Conduction in Human Skin

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hodjat, Reza (Author) ; Taghizade Manzari, Merdad (Supervisor) ; Sani Joushaghani, Mahdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
When classical Fourier law of heat conduction is not applicable due to finite speed of heat propagation in a medium, non-Fourier heat conduction is used. In non-Fourier heat conduction, heat transfer is studied considering finite speed of heat flux (thermal wave) or temperature gradient or both (dual phase lag). Biological tissues like skin are one of the materials which show non-Fourier behavior during usual heating processes. In this research heat transfer in human skin is modeled by Fourier, thermal wave and dual phase lag (DPL) models. The equations are solved using the finite difference method and the temperature distribution across the tissue is calculated. In thermal wave model,...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Sedighi, Rahime (Author) ; Taghavinia, Nima (Supervisor) ; Tajabadi, Fariba (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, we focus on study and fabrication of organic inorganic solar cells. We use and optimize various methods such as one-step spin-coating, two-step sequential deposition and vapor-assisted solution process (VASP), to prepare high quality perovskite films. One-step deposition is simplest method for deposition of perovskite films. Although perovskite deposition by this method is very simple, the control of uniformity and surface film morphology is difficult. Chlorine inclusion, optimization of annealing conditions, and a sequential solution-based deposition method have been demonstrated to increase film coverage and uniformity. Hence, we use sequential deposition method for...

Large Eddy Simulation and Design of the Three phase Immiscible Oil/Water/Solid Particles flow Separation System based on Vortices Generation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Akrami, Ehsan (Author) ; Roshandel, Ramin (Supervisor) ; Ashjari, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the process of extraction and refining of crude oil, a considerable amount of waste water are produced and if they are not removed, they would become one of the most hazardous environmental factors. Furthermore, purification and separation of such wastewaters are extremely costly, which with an increase in separation efficiency can lead to a decrease in valuable product loss. On the other hand, in the extraction process from oil reservoirs, because of porous and permeable nature of them, solid particles may be added to the extracted crude oil, which can result in an obstruction in pipelines and transport equipment. The most conventional method for separating a mixture of water, oil, and...
