    Abstract
The cauliflower like ZnO nanostructures are grown on ZnO nanorods using spray pyrolysis method. First, ZnO nanorod arrays are grown on p-type silicon substrate without catalyst by chemical vapor transport and condensation method in a horizontal tube furnace. Afterwards, the cauliflower like ZnO nanostructures is deposited on top of the ZnO nanorod array. The PL spectra of cauliflower like ZnO nanostructures consist of UV emission bands around 387 nm and a visible emission at ∼440 nm. The current-voltage (I-V) measurement under dark and UV illumination condition are performed to study photodetection of the cauliflower like ZnO-ZnO nanorod/p-Si heterostructure. The experimental data of dark...

    Abstract
Catalytic activity of carbon/Pt nanoparticles modified TiO 2 nanotubes electrode was studied by using dopamine contained solutions. The TiO 2 nanotubes electrode was prepared using anodizing method in aqueous solution. The electrochemical pulse method was then applied for electrodeposition of Pt nanoparticles onto the TiO 2 nanotubes. Further modification was achieved by decomposition of polyethylene glycol in a tube furnace to have a carbon/Pt nanoparticles modified TiO 2 nanotubes electrode. The final modified electrode could successfully detect the electro-oxidation of dopamine in a ImM contained solution using cyclic voltametry method. Also, a high sensitivity towards the oxidation of...

Carbon-Pt nanoparticles modified TiO 2 nanotubes for simultaneous detection of dopamine and uric acid

    , Article Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology ; Volume 11, Issue 8 , 2011 , Pages 6668-6675 ; 15334880 (ISSN) Mahshid, S ; Luo, S ; Yang, L ; Mahshid, S. S ; Askari, M ; Dolati, A ; Cai, Q ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The present work describes sensing application of modified TiO 2 nanotubes having carbon-Pt nanoparticles for simultaneous detection of dopamine and uric acid. The TiO 2 nanotubes electrode was prepared using anodizing method, followed by electrodeposition of Pt nanoparticles onto the tubes. Carbon was deposited by decomposition of polyethylene glycol in a tube furnace to improve the conductivity. The C-Pt-TiO 2 nanotubes modified electrode was characterized by cyclic voltam-metry and differential pulse voltammetry methods. The modified electrode displayed high sensitivity towards the oxidation of dopamine and uric acid in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.00). The electro-oxidation currents...

Synthesis of titanium nano-particles via chemical vapor condensation processing

    , Article Journal of Alloys and Compounds ; Volume 509, Issue 19 , 2011 , Pages 5825-5828 ; 09258388 (ISSN) Attar, A ; Halali, M ; Sobhani, M ; Ghandehari, R. T ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In the present study, titanium nano-particles have been synthesized using chemical vapor condensation (CVC) process. Reaction of sodium and titanium tetrachloride vapors in the tube furnace resulted in the production of titanium nano-particles that were encapsulated in sodium chloride. Dried Argon gas was employed as a carrying agent. Titanium nano-particles were contained in an ethanol bath. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) were employed for analysis and characterization of nano-particles. The size of primary particles was smaller than 100 nm and secondary particles were submicron agglomerations

Synthesis of Fe-TiC-Al2O3 hybrid nanocomposite via carbothermal reduction enhanced by mechanical activation

    , Article Ceramics International ; Volume 37, Issue 2 , March , 2011 , Pages 443-449 ; 02728842 (ISSN) Razavi, M ; Rajabi Zamani, A. H ; Rahimipour, M. R ; Kaboli, R ; Shabani, M.O ; Yazdani Rad, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this study, the feasibility of the synthesis of Fe-TiC-Al 2O3 hybrid nanocomposite via mechanical activation followed by carbothermal reduction was investigated. The raw materials including ilmenite, carbon black and aluminum powder were milled in a high energy planetary ball mill. At different time intervals, samples were taken for characterization. After phase evaluation with XRD, some samples were heat treated in an atmosphere controlled tube furnace. Studies proved that increasing the milling time of the raw materials resulted in the formation of more amorphous phase and more active materials. Furthermore, investigations showed that after carbothermal reduction, the synthesized TiC...
